The production happened. Thank god for Dua’s vocals cuz that’s the only redeeming quality of the song. And I blame Danny L Harle for the production (cuz he was the main producer). It’s true that he previously did some great stuff (like Dua’s YSL Freedom 90 cover or Carly Rae Jepsen‘s Super Natural) BUT he also did a lot of Caroline Polachek’s songs, which are truly bad (see her latest song Dang - that thing is awful) so he is a mix bag. My dilemma is why didn’t she release the Ian Kirkpatrick material she did for DL3? It’s proven that all his songs to date are lead materials (New Rules, DSN)

she relies on promo and has done no talk shows, performances, etc which probably won't happen until the new year

 

DSN gained lots of attention after her EMAs performance and the multiple other ones + Levitating went megaviral after her Grammys performance. i wouldn't be surprised if the same happens for Houdini

I spilled in the first threads. Tame impala is not a good pop producer  the song hook is also weak. 
The video is too cheap. There's not a clear concept like the dont start now era

I can't tell you what went wrong, it's one of her best releases. Huge bop and on repeat since it came out.
