It's just a transition song.

These same threads were made for Don't Start Now and Dance The Night too, I wouldn't get so sure

I like Dua, but It’s underwhelming. Especially for a highly anticipated lead single that’s supposed to kick start a new era. It doesn’t have the same punch that Don’t Start Now had. Kinda just feels there and more like it could have been a 4th single from Future Nostalgia. The video also serves low budget and is forgettable.

can't wait to see how everyone's gonna switch in about a month or two

you're right, dua could never make a song as bad as this :rip:

Nor a song as good as Prada

She should lean into more of a rock oriented sound. I don’t know why more people aren’t jumping on that. That’s what a lot of Gen Z people listen to right now.

No way... like what? Everyone here hates that genre.

the way the song is “not that good” after it underperformed but y’all were calling it the best thing since sliced bread the other day :dies: people just stanning numbers at this point

I think when it came out the ones that loved it were confident and loud. And now that it's dropping down the charts the haters are loud and confident.

this is definitely not true :skull:

OT: what intensive promo has she done? spotify playlisting and radio interviews like everyone else? :deadbanana: she had the highest debuts of her career, like she literally debuted in the top 15 of italy where even the biggest english songs struggle to make the top 40

it’s different this time. don’t start now and levitating do sound like hits. and dance the night away is backed by the barbie soundtrack. houdini is not a good song. she should scrap it and say it was sort of a promo single.

Im in the generation and most of the people I know either listen to rap or punk / rock. Also many of the younger kids listen to trap, drill, or music reminiscent of blink-182. I live on the West Coast so maybe it’s different here.

i am also gen z and in socal and i wouldn't say rock is even in the top 3 most popular genres, but ig its different depending on who you're around

It’s a weak single after a massive era

She just can’t match her previous self

This has happened several times with other artists

The key is throw everything at the wall until she finds a new non-disco sound that works for her

dumb thread but it's also hilarious stans think  "you'll see in 2 months!" Is a comeback when it's just admitting she needs extreme promo and hasn't built a fanbase :rip:

Dua keeps reminding me of Rih

In that dumb people keep calling her a flop time and time again eventhough it's a known fact that her songs take time to reach the top

Rihanna didn't pull big debut numbers until Anti :rip: (even then it was not that great)

Lift me up seems to indicate she has more power now though.

What went wrong with Is It Over Now?

Is It Over Now? already fell below 4 million streams worldwide on Spotify. Despite intensive anticipation for the 1989 vault tracks, the single streams are not increasing. Is it already time for single #2 ? Should Taylor have kept the signature 1989 pop instead of the Midnights sound? Is Is It Over Now too bland for her audience ? or should her label invest in more promo ?

How will this era perform for Taylor. Discuss.
