Funnily enough, I had the opposite reaction! I thought "meh" on first listen, but with multiple listens, the song and video grew on me pretty fast.

The song starts strong but gets repetitive and stale pretty fast, just like Perfect Illusion. Just shows once again that tame impala can’t produce a pop hit for a MPG. They should stick to what they do best, “alternative music” or whatever.

Not shocking. Combo of Apple Music in general being far less playlist carried than Spotify + Dua being a nobody everywhere but especially extra unknown in America.

I like Dua but she’s this generation’s Katy in the sense that her career is going to be highly dependent on her ability to score hits. Single #2 will probably be a catchier / more chart-friendly song.

All the other non-Urban/Country/Taylor songs in the US Spotify Top 30 (Greedy, Agora Hills, Vampire) are top 50 on US AM so how is it ignorant for us to expect MPG Dua Lipa's lead single to still be in the top 200 after half a week

"Houdini" is not a bad song, but it's more of the same old style Dua has been serving. She needs something fresh. I don't think she has a solid fanbase either, she relies more on a heavy promotion rather than on fans to carry her songs.

Dua always does this, she’s usually weak on AM, but it’s top ten on global Spotify where she’s strong.
 

 Radio and playlisting will keep slowly building and it’ll climb back up in January and stay for ages.
 

People always count her out and she always proves them wrong.

i didn't like her new hair and i didn't even listen to the song yet  looks like some people just don't care about her, the song is tanking like for real real.  she has to do a double release or some songs till one stick to the gp.
