BrokenMachine Posted November 15, 2023 Posted November 15, 2023 The US being tasteless what's new. Who cares about one market when you're GLOBAL tho 2 2 3
Funnyfatty Posted November 15, 2023 Posted November 15, 2023 Dua needs extreme promo to get a hit. I love her music but i don’t stream it tbh. Club future nostalgia was fun though.
baelani Posted November 15, 2023 Posted November 15, 2023 Kudos to Dua she’s an amazing artist but it’s giving stale re-do’s of her 2020 sound. It only worked in Barbie because the whole idea is that it was supposed to be a vapid dance song to add to the commentary of the Barbie’s being oblivious to their depressing reality. Dua needs to work on a sound that matches the vibe of today. Her disco revival worked in 2020 because people weren’t tired, had energy and were actually looking to consume any form of escapism. She needs lyrical depth and to make social commentary. Fun pop songs no longer have a place in the market (unless your Tay Tay and your cult will eat up anything) 2 3 2

Did it? ”CTTR” debuted at #3 on the U.S Digital Songs charts with 108K units sold and #15 on the Streaming Chart with 14.7M streams. It did HORRIBLY for Perry’s first real comeback single following the “PRISM” era + “Rise”. This song is doing slightly better for todays climate although not great.
Diet Pepsi Posted November 15, 2023 Posted November 15, 2023 Prisoner, Prisoner locked up can’t get you off my mind 1
shookspeare Posted November 15, 2023 Posted November 15, 2023 don't worry, playlists and radio will shove it down the GP's throat in due time 3 7
X~MoviePoP Posted November 15, 2023 Posted November 15, 2023 I told you all her songs are wayy too similar 2 1

No, Katy did so much better and I love Dua
KingWitch Posted November 15, 2023 Posted November 15, 2023 She's more of a GP artist ,once it gets big on radio and viral on tiktok it'll catch on . But this could be a sign that her career is Katy Perry'd ,like once radio/tiktok is tired of her then she'll just disappear 1
Aaron Posted November 15, 2023 Posted November 15, 2023 Ngl this is kinda satisfying after seeing how everyone rushed to hop on the “MPG is BACK! Yes Dua give us pop excellence again, show these girls how to do an ERA!” bandwagon as if the song/video weren’t boring 7 1 4 6
CatchIt Posted November 15, 2023 Posted November 15, 2023 Isn’t it better to smash globally than only in the USA or am I missing something here? USA isn’t even the largest music market plus we all know radio and Spotify carry pop artistes not Apple Music so this is a rly odd thing to post about 1 2
Infinite Posted November 15, 2023 Posted November 15, 2023 houdini is a bad lead name....the song is cool.

CTTR's performance isn't even close to Houdinis....it did much much better. The only reason why Houdini is doing somewhat decent on US Spotify is cause of playlisting

bliaz Posted November 15, 2023 Posted November 15, 2023 Dua has a good team behind her (unlike Ava Max, both artists are very similar). Get ready for the spam avalanche.

That's my only guess. That’s the tea. I liked the song but got bored of it really fast. And that overhyped ‘outro’ being just a few seconds of every Tame Impala song 1
Lady Claire Posted November 15, 2023 Posted November 15, 2023 As if Warner won't shove this song down people's throats until it reaches a top 5 peak Dua doesn't have a fanbase to secure huge debuts but her label sure has the money to make that song happen one way or another. Just like every other single by her. I'll check this thread again in Feb-March 1
Proseductice Posted November 15, 2023 Posted November 15, 2023 I still like the song and video. Charts are and have always been an overrated reflection of good music. 1
