The way this site pretended Padam Padam was a mega smash hit even though it only made noise in like 2 countries, meanwhile Houdini is getting big increases WW and we’re pretending it’s an Attention-sized bomb :rip:

no but genuinely, i looked up padam padam on wiki cause i assumed it was doing crazy numbers since everyone kept posting about it for a solid month and it was on par with my own local fad favorite :skull:

different circumstance. kylie being a legacy act. not having radio play or playlist support. so her having her first big viral moment was major and a big deal. it's almost unprecedented that a popstar 6 decades into her career is still finding that kind of success

Congrats to Kylie, I luv her and Padam but that **** is a niche gay hit :rip:

Soon we will hear that Rush is the next Blinding Lights and Charli XCX is the new Taylor

She bombed heavily in the 90s, 10s and 20s. Add that to the fact that she never made it in the Americas and Kylie had very few success.

Not this thread turning into a hot potato game with Kylie’s wig :rip:

Its true, we shouldn’t hold Dua to the same standards as someone close to their 4th decade of a career, but the fact remains that ATRL made Padam out to be some kind of viral hit and so badly wants Houdini to be a flop but Houdini is already shaping up to be far more successful than it

i get that but if you really love her then what's the issue with giving kylie her well earned and deserved flowers? it is a fact that she's had a fantastic career. her impact and influence shouldn't be minimized. a popstar in their 50s getting a viral hit is a rarity.

ohononono what we're not gonna do is all that. success can be measured in different ways. to say bombed is an overstatement. plenty of artists don't break into the us. kylie has on more than one occasion. she's literally popular everywhere else. being an international popstar and finding success overseas is just a valid and shouldn't be taken away just cause you don't break into the us market.

padam padam was a viral hit. that is a fact.

houdini is both a great song with a great video. with just those things alone. i am happy. those who are not can leave dua and the rest of us fans alone to enjoy the era and music.

Honestly, I love this song but it's doing terribly in the US so far. There's literally no excuse for this.

I think the song and video are great, but people might be getting tired of retro/80s-inspired pop. That's my only guess.

I really liked the song initially, but it hasn't had much staying power for me.

Shouldn't you worry about bad idea right and get him back being OUT of the entire top 200 as well tho?
