The7thStranger Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 I remember being really disappointed with Something to Tell You. I eventually bought it, and it definitely has its moments, but there is a major difference between the debut and the sophomore effort. 1

Timeless Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 Compared to the SMASH that was The Album, this one was just way too tame and lame. 2 years wait for 7 new mid songs and + 1 leaked track from years ago. A mess. They were so f*cking lazy. 3 1 1
FreeXone Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 (edited) Janet Jackson - Dreamstreet All my love to you is a BOOOOP though Edited November 7, 2023 by FreeXone
glitch Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 Personally Ella Mai. Loved her debut and couldn't care less about her since I heard the follow up. 3
Titanbaddie Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 Born this Way by female pop vocalist Lady Gaga. 1 2
davidson Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 After it was released I thought that Born This Way was horrible but it's good in its way. For now? It's GUTS but maybe it will change for me. 1
differentkindahigh Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 It's usually the 3rd album that they fail on. The only one I can think of for 2nd though is Dorian Electra. 1

I've heard of a sophomore slump and the stan-coined 4th era curse but the 3rd album is usually safe OT: Icarus Falls, Sucker, In My Defense

It refers to the "never released music again " part. I also feel like she doesn't purposely tell when it happened. She just says it took her a long time to mend her broken pieces and even longer to get the courage to speak.

Mystic Boy Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 "The Sweet Escape" Gwen sweetie.....What was that? There was like 3 or 4 good songs and the rest was pure trash compared to the masterpiece that was L.A.M.B. 2
Musicology Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 Not the most but definitely disappointing (at the time) 1

Ewan Chaos Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 Most disappointing is certainly gonna be different than worst, so I totally agree with HAIM's Something to Tell You. I agree there's great material on there - I still think You Never Knew is one of their best songs - but especially looking back now that they have WIMPIII out as well it's just disappointing compared to their other albums and was disappointing as a follow up to DAG. Even the not great songs were at least fun live, though.
