Soda Pop Queen Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 I'm not sure about "ahead of its time" yet but I've always liked the song. Never got the hate the Monsters had for it. It wasn't her first flirtation with Rock instrumentation at all.
LittleStarmen Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 Hmm not really it just sounds bad or irrelevant nowadays. It also doesnt fit on Joanne either too noisy
teresaguidice Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 not necessarily ahead of it's time, but it's so needlessly overhated cause it flopped. yes, the vocals are grating and the lyrics are missing some sharpness or wit or something, but the instrumental still carries it to bop status imo.
Ron Ng Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 (edited) One of the worst songs of all time, nice production but her voice was unlistenable Edited November 7, 2023 by Ron Ng

Solaria Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 I like Perfect Illusion a lot but Dua working with Kevin has nothing to do with Gaga. Dua has been wanting to work with Kevin in forever, she’s named Currents as her favourite album many times
Titanbaddie Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 This is the guy who wrote and produced Rihanna's Same Ol' Mistakes from Anti right? I'm gonna assume Dua probably was influenced by that.

Iris Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 (edited) Same Ol Mistakes came out before Perfect Illusion so no. As much as I like PI, I have to be honest: Gaga managed to waste a flawless instrumental by overshadowing it with belting and whining from start to finish. Dua Lipa on the other hand would've done the instrumental justice by letting it breathe. Edited November 7, 2023 by Iris typo

istan4badgalriri Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 2016 was 7 years ago so no, doesn’t really make sense Rihanna released Same Ol’ Mistakes earlier that same year too
