Was Lady Gaga ahead of her time for this song?

I still find PI better than SL, but it's not a decent single when you compare to her other songs x

What Dua does has class to it... I'll say that.

What do you know about CLASS these days, dear?

The instrumental is good. The song by itself it's only ruined by the weird vocal production on it :ryan3:

Her vocal delivery on the track is too much.  She should have just emulated Kevin’s original vocals and it would have easily been one of best and most unique songs.

Obviously. It’s one of her best songs. I think it helped that I was going through a breakup when this song came out. So I related to it in every way possible. I agree that the demo production would’ve been better, and no key change.

I also feel like Perfect Illusion was a very last minute addition to Joanne. They needed a “smash” for the lead single and didn’t have one yet. However, no matter what she released back then wouldn’t have been a smash hit anyways.

Million Reasons as the lead would’ve low-key done well/better.

Perfect Illusion, while good, was/is too ‘noisy’ for the GP.

no

ATRL calling every awful flop song "ahead of its time" never fails to amuse me :lmao:

Not true. I’ve never heard anyone call Manjobi or Britney Jean ahead of its time.

That song really wasn't ahead of its time, unlike let's say Manjobi or Britney Jean

the eurovision'd key change kills it for me

It demands vocal range. Not every popstar has that.

Does that explain the cheesy, cawing, theatre kid vocals on this song?

Yeah but the result was bad and the song flopped. Dua will deliver and the song will smash

PI was cute… the production is great… I’ll say that

She should've toned down her dope-y vocal delivery and sang the way Kevin does in the demo

it’s horrible and her shrill vocals in it are horrible too - can’t believe she released this monstrosity as well as the album that followed it

Yes, but ATRL is not the place to expect Gaga to get any credit.

Half this site is Liddo’s, she gets plenty of credit :rip:

Ot: The demo version is really what she should’ve went with, still a good song overall though :clap3:

Yes and this song marked a first for Kevin Parker. The first time he made a horrible song.
