NOW Posted November 6, 2023 Posted November 6, 2023 (edited) Now that we know Dua Lipa's comeback single is helmed by Kevin Parker, can't help but feel like Gaga was once again lowkey ahead of the curve by working with him all the way back in 2016. Today, pop artists like Dua and even Madison Beer are emulating his signature psychedelic sound... Love PI but my only gripe is that she really should've kept the demo production and maybe even explored it more on Joanne because whew... Edited November 6, 2023 by NOW 6 3 9 4
Popular Post GraceRandolph Posted November 6, 2023 Popular Post Posted November 6, 2023 Yes, but ATRL is not the place to expect Gaga to get any credit. 30 1
Abracadabra Posted November 6, 2023 Posted November 6, 2023 Yeah, but she's usually ahead of the curve and doing things that become trendy in the following years so that's nothing new 11
Erreur2 La Nature Posted November 6, 2023 Posted November 6, 2023 ATRL calling every awful flop song "ahead of its time" never fails to amuse me 2 1 11 4
DAP Posted November 6, 2023 Posted November 6, 2023 Well that explains why I didn’t like that Houdini snippet 2
Chaos Angel Posted November 6, 2023 Posted November 6, 2023 It's divisive for a reason The ones that get it get it 7
dawnettakins Posted November 6, 2023 Posted November 6, 2023 Most definitely. It's aged like fine wine and that instrumental is 1
shookspeare Posted November 6, 2023 Posted November 6, 2023 the eurovision'd key change kills it for me 5
Dystopian Posted November 6, 2023 Posted November 6, 2023 Kevin should've kept it. His dreamy vocals over that production 1
Reginald Posted November 6, 2023 Posted November 6, 2023 Not me expecting Scheiße but getting Perfect Illusion 3 4
perfectillusion204 Posted November 6, 2023 Posted November 6, 2023 Obviously. It’s one of her best songs. I think it helped that I was going through a breakup when this song came out. So I related to it in every way possible. I agree that the demo production would’ve been better, and no key change. I also feel like Perfect Illusion was a very last minute addition to Joanne. They needed a “smash” for the lead single and didn’t have one yet. However, no matter what she released back then wouldn’t have been a smash hit anyways.
Janet Posted November 6, 2023 Posted November 6, 2023 She needs to go a bit more low fi. She does too much sometimes I feel
LatinFreak Posted November 6, 2023 Posted November 6, 2023 What Dua does has class to it... I'll say that. 3 1 1
Mikeymoonshine Posted November 6, 2023 Posted November 6, 2023 I feel like PI aged really well and it grew on me a lot even though Joanne is still my least fave Gaga album. 1
ScorpiosGroove Posted November 6, 2023 Posted November 6, 2023 if she kept the demo yes, but bloodclot and her ****** up the song so no 1
Hephaestus Posted November 6, 2023 Posted November 6, 2023 Stop trying to make PI happen, it's not gonna happen 1
