Absolutely insane numbers but the fact that it’s still less than half of what 25 did :priceless:

I know the climates are different so this is pretty comparable to 25 but still. 25 didn’t even have vinyls or multiple versions like most artists do now.

Her album wasn’t available on streaming, she did actually have multiple versions (Target edition), and she was coming off the juggernaut that was 21. None of this takes away from the astounding opening of 25, which nobody will ever match, but you can’t compare that opening with a re-recording of a decade old album.

I’m interested to see what narrative they debut after they have a chance to recoup from this slaughter.

1.6M :deadbanana4: Glad to see MIDnights was ended by the better Alberm :clap3:

1989 doesn’t have a song as good as Lavender Haze, Anti Hero, Midnight Rain, Labyrinth, Mastermind, Glitch, or Hits Different. :cm:

It was lmao. It literally was bigger. ZERO social media or streaming and her and Madonna had the world in an absolute chokehold.

lmfao, the tabloids/entertainment celeb news TV shows back then is what social media is today babes. don't try to discredit Taylor's impact, it's just embarrassing x

Britney and Madonna are iconic living legends and I give their dues btw x

Notably, Swift did not offer an autographed edition of the new album to purchase, as she did in time for the first weeks of her last three No. 1s: Speak Now [Taylor’s Version]...

Uhm, did I miss something?

Here we go…

Not even worth the debate with this cult of a fanbase lmao. Thankfully many of us dont equate taste or talent to sales. Good for Miss Swift, but... the facts are she is still the least talented out of all her peers (let alone other artists) and that will never change. The GP rarely having much taste isnt anything new. Just like Grammys being purchased isnt anything new. Britney, ALONE, has more versaility as an artist (on projects she fully controlled) and has had far more impact on (pop) culture than TS.

Kanye shrug.

I'm sorry, did we have access to all that in our pockets 24 hours a day seven days a week with algorithms pushing that to our faces all hours of the day?! And instant access to purchasing/streaming physical/digital music? EMBARASSING to even try comparing the two but the delusion you guys have has zero bounds so i'm arguing into a void. Try again, "babes".

The meltdown.

It’s starting like clockwork.  Give us a classic like she is a bad performer or doesn’t have a number 1 single in Slovakia.

Yes, people did have access to MTV, Vh1, E!, online news outlets. And as far as buying cds etc, it was common practice to go to your local shops to buy music.

One can easily say that today some people also don't have access to a mobile phone, TV, social media, etc...

Embarrassing is you indeed trying to compare two different times in history. so NEXT. x

At this point, I'm convinced taylor antis are masochists who also happen to have a humiliation kink.
