I’m happy for Taylor but cannot believe Is It Over is #1 as it is one of the weakest vault tracks imo???? I expected Say Don’t Go or Now that we don’t talk

IION is a complete ear worm.

I don’t understand how people think it’s weak. It was instant smash for me on first listen.

And swifties are still trying to tell me the remixes were a non factor.

Delulu, Swifties attention is focused on the new album.

Try getting your fave another hit first

Miley is doing nothing to boost her streams while Taylor will attend the grand opening of a paper bag if she could

Congrats to Taylor! Wish “Say Don’t Go” was the vault track that  would debut at #1, but I’m happy “IION?” did that…

Chart-wise, Cardigan and ATW are weaker

Quality-wise, Bad Blood and LWYMMD are weaker

I skipped willow, Anti-Hero and IION. All are excellent tracks too, but I just wanted to be concize and highlight the diversity of her #1s.

Some of these no 1s she has will not be actual hits like ATW10, Cardigan, Willow and IS it over now

I was expecting 2 million US for this. Still decent though.

It should be noted though that these numbers are really inflated since the resurgence of vinyl, so it really cannot be compared to the original.

Bit late of a reaction, but this reasoning just isn't right. Yeah, vinyl sales has gone up since 1989 OG, but cd sales have dropped even more than vinyl sales has gone up. Overall, 1989TV came out in a time with less physical sales.

CD sales in the US in 2014: 142.8 million

Vinyl sales in the US in 2014: 9.2 million

Total: 152 million

CD sales in the US in 2022: 33.4 million

Vinyl sales in the US in 2022: 43.4 million

Total: 76.8 million

It's even more impressive when you realize there were like over 100 million digital album sales yearly back in 2014, which has dropped to about 20 million last year. It's hard to compensate that with streaming. The numbers don't lie :clap3:

I wouldn’t base a song being at hit on its chart performance. ATW’s versions combined are over 1.1B on Spotify, Cardigan 1B streams on Spotify, and Willow 700M streams on Spotify. These songs may have not had the best chart runs, but their longevity and massive consumption are on par with many big hits.

Yet they have more streams/better recurrent streams than most pop girls singles?

You should be an attorney. You cleared case. :clap3:
But it is really radical how physical sales have gone down by 50 % in span of 8 years ( 2014 vs 2022 ). :duck:

(#original peak)

#12 Blank Space (#1)

#14 Welcome To New York (#48)
#16 Out Of The Woods (#18)

#19 Wildest Dreams (#5 - TV #37)

#20 All You Had To Do Was Stay
#28 Shake It Off (#1)
#29 New Romantics (#46)

#30 Clean

#31 I Wish You Would

#36 I Know Places
#39 Wonderland (#51)

#40 How You Get The Girl

#42 This Love (N/A - TV #50)
#43 You Are In Love (#83)

Other than the main 5 singles, everything that charted before got a new peak

Amazing new peaks! I kinda wish This Love got a top 40 peak but hey, it did super well especially being the least streamed song from the original 1989, and particularly since it was pre-released. I Know Places and Clean top 40 peaks :alexz:Loving it!

True but we never know if she will continue to release at this pace and stuff. I am certain she can hit 15#1s for sure but it's a big jump from 15 to 20 #1s tbh

:lmao: right? Like at this pace she is guaranteed a #1 from TS11, there's also a possibility that something from Reputation goes #1. That's already like 2 #1s guaranteed and that's the minimum that can happen :skull: She is leap frogging over Rih!

I know :'( Those two absolutely deserved even just a week at #1. It's ok tho...peaks arent everything but it's a little frustrating lol

Yeah frustrating but that's how it is. Trouble and Belong are still massive hits.

And Anti-Hero. But yeah it doesn't matter, the quality is just top-notch compared to her earlier #1s!

I feel like ATW10 has been a hit since its release. Maybe not a huge hit, but a decent, smaller longevity hit like some of Billie Eilish's songs. And we have to keep in mind, it's a 10-min song, that's approaching 1B streams in 2 years, in Spotify alone. All versions combined it's already over 1B. The same thing with Cardigan, especially since it's still pulling around 1.5M streams daily. That's insane!

Willow will have its time to shine. it, Champagne Problems or Tolerate It will avenge Evermore :eli:

I have no worries about IION, it will have decent longevity in the long run. Say Don't Go on the other hand will pull a Cruel Summer :eli:

This is not Taylor's base, its a CHART thread, everyone can be here and say whatever its on their god damn mind!

Nobody said you are not allowed to 'celebrate', but if someone has something different to say, stop jumping on that person.

And what's negative about this? There's literally nothing negative about opening with 1.6m copies and debuting at #1 on both charts
