How is what I said doomerish nn. Biden still might win but if there was someone who could actually inspire hard-to-turn-out voters Republicans would be cooked in all three branches with the way post-Roe trends are going.

I mean maybe Biden will do much worse. But based on tn Dems are doing amazing

I think polls overestimate Trump a lot. He's not doing over 20% with black voters, over 40% with hispanic voters and over 45% with young voters.

Every election since 2020 has shown these pollsters are still struggling on how to actually poll young people. Young people do not answer polls and then go out and vote anyways. And honestly, how can you even poll that correctly?

CNN's poll which has Trump leading Biden 49 to 45 actually has him winning black men. That's so absurd.

If trump goes to jail then Biden wins because from the polls I’ve seen that’s a dealbreaker for independents, that’s the wildcard. We are still a year away a lot can change and happen. One thing is for sure, abortion is a winning issue for dems

The Dem party is a mess nationally, for sure, but the American people still think they're less bad than Republicans. I fully believe 2028 will be the first time young people will be powerful enough to enact a seismic shift in national politics. :jonny:

That’s czenk uygur (sp?) dude from the young Turks predictions . 2028 is the year progressives take over and republicans can’t win from there on out because of young people.

Unless you work in politics, it shouldn’t occupy all of your life. Politics, inherently, is sad as hell because there are problems everywhere. Being too self-congratulatory doesn’t inspire progress. There’s always room to criticize and improve.

The point that Biden is flailing in the polls and if we had a more popular candidate in his place, the Dems likely would stomp next year is a pretty grounded assessment based on the data we have right now. It’s not even that negative.

I wouldn't be so optimistic. Young people age and tend to get more conservative, and the country is actually getting older.

I’m so jealous of Michigan. God if she runs In 2028 I’ll be the first person at my polling place to vote.

IDK if progressives take over, but it is absolutely the end of Republicans ever winning again simply because of the age demographic. That is why the GOP is hedging everyone on winning 2024 so they can make sure there will not be a 2028.

There is no real evidence of this happening anymore. This only happened with older people who are dying out. Young people now get more progressive as they age. The young people who do get more conservative are not getting conservative in the traditional way, like queer hating, immigrant hating, etc.

I would argue: democrats on the local level>>>national level

I mean, you're getting closer to the point. Referendums have been the only effective way to pass progressive policies because they free independent voters out of partisanship.

Progressive policies are popular, even when Democrats are often not to independent voters. If this was Dem A vs Rep A with that person getting the final vote on legislation criminalizing abortion, it'd be a likely failed Democrat campaign led by trying to convince Republican women to vote Yes instead of independents to vote Yes even when this is how it looks like voters across the state broke:

F-XzMnvXQAA24bI?format=png&name=small

For comparison, centrist reactionary weirdo Tim Ryan only got 50% of independents over centrist reactionary weirdo JD Vance last year. This lines up with the 2018 governor race seeing independents similarly break 46% vs 46% to show how messaging is poor for local & federal Dems.

Maybe Democrats miscalculated thinking "political independent" meant someone wanting to be told by a Democrat that they, too, hate the Chinese and will ban Mandarin if voted into the Senate!

The Dems have a good chance at taking the VA House too. :jonny:
