Tbh in the verses there are elements (the glitchy electro sound) that are also in Swine jddi

The production in the verses sounds like parts of Venus/GUY/Swine to me.

 

Of course, it’s mixed WAY better than Artpop was so it isn’t noisy, annoying and in your face so it works much better in this song. It’s only a *slight* similarity too, but it jumped out to me on first listen. Everything else in the song is nothing like ARTPOP

I would actually go as far as to say Houdini is what Gaga WANTED to do with Artpop, but failed to do so. Sexxx Dreams/Swine/Venus/ARTPOP all kind of have slightly similar elements to parts of this song, but none of them are anywhere near as good.

 

Dua and her team are simply visionaries who can plan, formulate then EXECUTE

I really don't hear it  Apart from the miles better mixing, ARTPOP songs don't really have these prominent 80s synths that are kinda key moments of Houdini and the overall production is more... airy (for lack of a better word).

In the first 9 seconds you can clearly hear that ‘crunchy’ synthc (for the lack of a better word) and that’s also in the Houdini verses

Yeah, I noticed the little noise sound, but I would have never noticed had y'all not pointed it out  It's so minor, not enough to compare the two in the slightest

With a radio edit though, the latter isn’t a problem at all and the former isn’t really THAT big of a deal. As usual, Dua managed to take intricate production and a different approach to easily accessible pop music and made it a fun bop with layers to it. She EXCELS at that, and it’s something we haven’t seen in a very, very long time

This was never going to be her Prism era, she’s simply not that basic  Imagine a Roar-esque lead to follow up FN, I’m sick at the thought.

Is Dua actually involved in the production ? 

 

I do agree that the production on this is pristine, I just don't think she has much if anything to do with it.

She's not credited at all on the production - I would imagine that if she was involved she would be credited as producer as well as writer.

Oh yes I just heard this. But they are subtle in Houdini and don't sound jarring so they work better.
