yall will disagree but this would KNOCK with a rap remix

It's delusional to think this would have fit on FN - Plz :skull:

This is def a grower and no one could call it bad; but it's def a letdown imo. I'll def be listening more and I expect the HQ to make it sound even better, but I'm pretty bummed. This is a low-key lazy effort and I really wish she had put more effort into it, esp lyrically. I could see an AI generating this.

That all said, the verses are great; the melody rocks, and her delivery (as always) is great. I'd give the song a solid 3/5, but not even in her top 20 songs for me lol

I listened to the first minute on X and it's a hit, I fear. :jonnycat:

So… the 22 seconds snippet was the only interesting part of the song.

even with her early music, though it sounded different it was still minimal and generic pop

so i don’t understand why you expected something more

If it flops at least the drags about it disappearing from the charts like Houdini will be cute

Someone on X earlier apparently said that Dua will be performing 'Houdini' at M Countdown next Thursday(I can't find the source now). Should we believe it?:duca:

M Countdown is owned by same company that produce MAMA awards

it's a smash and definitely first single worthy, but i think don't start now still sounds bigger.

i love how the instrumental in the verses feel glitchy and it just opens up in the chorus. the outro is obvi incredible but she was right to reserve it for the end :clap3:

Last thing I'll say (as it continues growing on me): I really do wish it were longer. I said the same about FN, that the song(s) would be even better if they had more time to expand and build and grow, a la Jessie/WYP? I know we can't expect that same structure for a mainstream pop singer, but Hoodeeknee could have been at least 1min longer.

I was sort of expecting the piano-only snippet to open the song dramatically before the full song came in. Or, the muffled background music that starts the song could have grown in from quiet to louder for a good 15 seconds.

Anyway I digress. A bop for sure - and again, those verses are awesome :jonnycat:

Other than the outro, it’s a tediously unchallenging, generic Dua track that brings nothing new to the table. What a shame. I hoped with Caroline as her tour opener & Danny producing she was ready to take a risk but this is just more of the same

Totally agree, this should have been a minute longer. It’s too tight but not in a good Padam Padam way, ‘cause this one has a lot more going on in terms of structure. When you think about it, they managed to fit a:

Chorus

Verse 1

Chorus

Post Chorus

Verse 2

Chorus

Post Chorus

Bridge

Chorus

Outro

All that in 3 minutes. It should have had more space to breathe IMO, even though I understand that this decision will probably work in favour of its chart performance.

Agreed. I hope they werent TOO focused on charts and streams with these songs; focus on great music and musical integrity instead.

Also, can a few of y'all stop disliking every comment that isn't just blind glowing praise? Grow up.

Hopefully this one is also going to help AG Cook to be more prominent in mainstream pop music. The little synths in the background were so recognizable without being overwhelming. His mind.

With this direction, I need a 7 minutes song on the album. Dula please, take notes.

She is Dua Lipa. She is not going to do try hard music like Caroline's
