Flop or not, it's a magnificent track and I can't wait for more Danny and Kevin on the album.

you sound more like a typical fickle sheep hop from whatever is popular to the text because to not instantly click with don't start now or physical is wild

I’m not gonna be told I’m a trendhopper by someone who’s only input on this forum is to annoyingly mass quote entire threads to ask when x artist is going to collab with David Guetta or ask for leaks of songs that don’t exist

I mean, she is? She debuted in the Top 10 in all her main markets (UK, Canada, AUS, NZ, Netherlands, Belgium, France)

And she debuted at #11 in the US, which for her is great

But the US is not one of her main markets yet

US is absolutely one of her main markets, Levitating was just now a certified Diamond year end #1 :deadbanana4:

But yeah that doesn't mean she's guaranteed a huge debut, #11 is already the best position she's ever had on week 1.

I did NOT see someone compare Houdini to Not My Problem, you have GOT to be kidding with this comparison  :biblio:

I'm disappointed that the song is not smashing harder than it should (so far) but i hate the way people change their minds about a song based on how well it's doing commercially. Houdini is a GREAT song and i'll stand by it, it doesn't matter if the rest of the world agrees or not.

I also hate the way people are saying Tate has "replaced" Dua just because Greedy is a smash. Tate still has a long way to go before she has as many hits as Dua, one song smashing doesn't mean she 'replaced" her :toofunny3:

I have no desire to play this song anymore. I remember with DSN I listened for months and months and never got tired of it.

Right? I don't even hate Tate, she's fine. But she has a LONG way to go before she can be considered on Dua's level and pretending otherwise is just delusional :toofunny3:

Same, it's just not catchy enough.

The bridge and final minutes of this song are amazing and a highlight in her career  :jonnycat: I'll probably pee my panties when I hear it live :jonnycat::jonnycat::jonnycat:

The success stans getting weeded out :ahh:

I am still obsessed with this song, it hasn’t left #1 on my On Repeat Spotify playlist since release. Genuinely one of her best, I appreciate that it touts the line between pop hit and artsy.

Popular music has become so cheap sounding lately. Everything sounds like a rehash of something before, manufactured for the purpose of becoming a quick little hit. To me, this song sounds expensive and while I agree it isn’t immediately catchy, I find the nuances of the song’s production to be way more interesting than something that’s catchy, but once you’ve heard it once that’s it, there’s no layers (Lovin On Me, for example, the rehash of The Motto).

God forbid Dua start making I’m Goods and Super Freaky Girls. That’s when I unstan. As much as I’d love for another smash era like FN, I’d give it all up if it means she keeps pumping out the perfectly crafted pop songs that actually sound new and fresh.

she did sample famous songs last time… many. it was tasteful and cohesive to the era, but she’s not exactly above those tracks you referenced

There’s a difference between how albums like Future Nostalgia and Renaissance used samples and how songs like I’m Good, Out Out, Super Freaky Girl, etc directly rip the sample form the song and make it front and center.

Beyond that, the only tracks that sampled songs on FN were Love Again, Break My Heart, and Future Nostalgia, none of which were the main hits of the album. It’s hardly comparable. FN is absolutely above the tracks I referenced.
