You guys are so stuck up on technicalities  The GP doesn't care that this is a lead single, nor was Dua out of the public eye to make this seem like the beginning of a new era. Sure, we as pop fans know that she is starting her new album cycle, but Dance the Night smashed just months ago, so to the general public Houdini is yet another Dua song.

This is why I was worried about a Novemeber release charts are a mess… Xmas songs keep getting bigger every year they also rise sooner.

 

Also there are basically not big spots for Dua to perfom except late night shows / a small stage where Dua can’t shine as much as an award show.

Admittedly, the song is performing horribly in the states. I don’t remember one of her songs getting below 600k streams this early on? If so, please correct me.

 

This might be her first big flop.

The points are low due to Hot 100 restrictions Billboard themselves implemented. The chart points being low doesn’t make it easier to hit #1 or top 10 because that doesn’t make any sense. The methodology as a whole shrinks everyone’s points.

Shes doing the DSN rollout, only that she probably saves major promo for February/March so that the song can then explode and potentially reach #1

Since the US market is so slow to respond to music these days, I’m sure they’ll push a WW single in late January while still pushing this in the US. And then push a 3rd single WW and 2nd single US upon album release

The fact that the U.S. store is not shipping physicals of Houdini until late February tells me that they have a plan for the song to be peaking at that time. Clearly the physicals are ready, they shipped first week in the UK. We just need to trust their process, I guess. There’s no other reason the physicals would ship that late.
