However, in my opinion these albums surpassed or are on par in terms of quality, songwriting, production. 11 minutes ago, HardBambi said: Back to Black ❤️ If we’re counting pre 2010s, most definitely this as well If that’s the case, let’s not forget: You could argue Vulnicura as well. and pretty much every single Fiona album after this. An alt rock classic. Arguably the most influential R&B/Pop album of all time A stunning heartfelt warm chamber folk record with spectacular songwriting. 1
starsailor Posted October 28, 2023 Posted October 28, 2023 With this album Madonna became the fourth name to say when you are praying. “In The Name of God: Father, Son, Holy Spirit and Madonna.” Frozen alone >>>>>>> careers combined And talking about Frozen, the Immaculate Trio compound by Frozen,The Power of Good-Bye and To Have and Not to Hold is something that transpass the human existence. 6

sickofwaitingtables Posted October 28, 2023 Posted October 28, 2023 How can it be surpassed if it's, let's say, perfect? Just kidding, perfection is a wild concept. But, seriously, I'm sure that there are many albums that some people might think have surpassed ROL, in their opinion. Some people have listed Melodrama or Norman ******* Norwell and they're certainly great ones. But what is confounding to me is that ROL was both critically acclaimed and also a massive, massive hit. Anyways, let's enjoy the music. Shout-out to Drowned World/Substitute for Love, which is such an incredible opener. 1
PaloSanto Posted October 28, 2023 Posted October 28, 2023 I fear noone has ascended Mount Sinai and written down the word of God for us the masses to know it since the prophet Madonna did in 1998 4

Also, highly dubious of a pop stan not hearing of RoL since multiple music releases since the album came out cite it as a reference, and is considered one of the most influential pop albums ever. 2 2

Being a MDNA track doesn't help the song but as a standalone, it really reminds you to that 1998 Madonna. Edited October 29, 2023 by Drowned8World
