Jack keeps on failing. Who would be a good match as a producer for a Taylor album?

Yuh but it's a melodrama wannabe, that's the issue

Oh sorry, i didn't know Lorde invented the kind of music she made on Melodrama :toofunny3:

Also MANY songs on Midnights sound different from Melodrama so that comparison is reaching.

She should work exclusively with will.i.am on her next album, Taylor Alison :bird:

I agree with the premise of this thread.

I'd like Her to collaborate with Aaron Dessner :heart2:

she doesn't need to cut off Jack completely, but I'd like her to work with other producers too, like she did with Folkmore.

Jack producing so much of the re recordings + the entirety of Midnights is tiring. She should put only their masterpieces on the albums and ditch the Mastermind rehashes

Time for her to work with Arca I fear

An odd choice for a thread when he will literally have the H100 #1 and an album debuting with over 1m in sales.

Failing......never change, ATRL.

Any producers except the ones she already worked with (Jack,Aaron,Max,Shellback etc)

We need TS11 to sound new and fresh

Why are people saying he is not failing when we are witnessing one of the biggest peaks of all time and yet Taylor has only managed to have 2 real hits?

People on their peaks like Madonna, Gaga, Micheal or katy had around 8 hits. Something is wrong and it's Jack

Why do the tasteless gays on this site loathe Jack so much? I just don't understand it, has he killed your family or what? :deadbanana4:

I don't wanna go too crazy but it's low key misogynistic. Some girls on here didn't enjoy Midnights, Solar Power, Blue Banisters and other albums so they ran with the "Jack Antonoff ruined those albums, and my poor poor meek female faves couldn't do a thing about it" narrative.

Jack has provided extremely lush and richly instrumented production on NFR. His production on Midnights is subtle and quiet but intricate in the background, probably exactly as Taylor requested. On Dance Fever he used lots of drums, as opposed to other albums where ATRLers complained about a lack of drums. Idk why ATRL users would prefer to think that Lorde was conned into using his production on Solar Power, rather than imagining that maybe, just maybe, she asked and approved that kind of thing

She sells huge numbers with Jack, which is mostly what her fans care about, so let Jack work with Taylor.

Hopefully Jack stays away from Lorde and everyone wins.

OT - of the ones mentioned, Ariel Rechtshaid. Just take a look at his production credits: Caroline Polachek, Haim, Carly Rae Jepsen, Vampire Weekend, Kelela, "Everything Is Embarrassing" with Sky Ferreira and many others.

Nah, Jack is a good match for her. It's just that they don't really care that much about these Taylor's versions to reach a folklore-level of perfection.

I’m happy for Jack to have 2 or 3 songs on her albums but I don’t want another Jack heavy album from her. Midnights gave us all to give I fear.

she needs something completely different next, otherwise even swifties might start to get tired

Christopher Rowe is the one that really needs to go for butchering Style. Jack productions on 1989 TV are more or less identical. But Yes, we need a new producer for TS11 to secure that 4th AOTY.

This.

Jack is fine doing his thing , he's very talented. It's this Rowe man who made the tracks sound like a "That's what I call music!" Karaoke compilation.

Ian Kirkpatrick could be an excellent match , Cirkut etc...

Jack is doing fine.

Thank goodness she is too smart to listen to ATRL and will never collaborate with some of the producers named in this thread

I don’t get why some of you believe that  jack “gave” taylor anything, he didn’t give Taylor ****, his only “production hits” are with Taylor while she has had hits with multiple producers so he’s not the reason behind her success, she’s the one that gave him all this success and credibility as a producer.

A lot of people also forget that the driving force behind Taylor’s success are her lyrics and she doesn’t need anyone but herself to write an amazing album, most swifties don’t really care how Taylor’s song sound as long as the lyrics are great, the GP does tho.

I don’t think taylor will let jack go because she’s comfortable with him but i do wish she would experiment and become more ambitious with her sound, I like midnights but it’s my least favorite out of all her albums.

yeah I’m very mixed about Jack

when I first heard Sweeter Than Fiction I was like yasssss ok Taylor Lauper!

and then when 1989 came, Out of the Woods was SUCH a clear highlight!

now 2017… brought some more conflicting thoughts.

Spoiler

Melodrama very much signaled a new era in poptimism that has continued on through the new decade. however, the production on certain tracks such as The Louvre and Hard Feelings/Loveless rendered Lorde a bit anonymous. and that’s not the fault of her vocals or the songwriting, don’t get it twisted. it’s the fault of the production. when the fall came and Reputation and Masseduction entered my apple music library, it felt like I could really start noticing some Jack signatures. now out of those three albums, Masseduction is easily the best one. but tracks like Sugarboy and Happy Birthday, Johnny easily parallel Supercut and Liability and those also easily parallel Getaway Car and New Year’s Day. and that’s okay, cause all six of the above are excellent songs, but I was starting to feel like Jack’s production can sometimes blur artists’ styles together in a way that doesn’t exactly fit them perfectly. now, I stream songs from all three albums regularly, but they some of them don’t quite hold the uniqueness they could had they had other producers

BUT! in 2019 came the incredible Norman F*cking Rockwell!, where Jack showed off some versatility by being pushed by Lana to new heights and updating her Born to Die and Ultraviolence sound palettes. this goes hand in hand with my theory that Jack CAN be a good producer when the artist pushes him to be. that happened again with Folklore and Daddy’s Home, with him charting new production ground with some psychedelic and dream pop and lounge aspects… he killed it on those projects

so I think it all boils down to if he’s pushed to do great production work. otherwise he almost feels lazy. so let’s definitely not put it on the women he works with, it’s him who does some questionable choices at the end of the day :giraffe:

I think John Congleton, Greg Kurstin, St. Vincent, Jeff Bhasker, Jennifer Decilveo, David Kosten, and Ariel Reichstaid would be great choices for Taylor at this point :cm: but I’m still down for two or three songs on an album being produced by Jack

I want her to work with Haim's producers. Ariel Retchshaid and Rostam

An album with them + Dan N word would be great

It’s the way every name here has worked with Sky Ferreira lmao

I would love to “fail” like Jack is failing :dies:

I don’t think people have realized yet that working with a producer is also about what’s NOT in the song. Things like creative freedom, comfort, chemistry, non-abusive working relationships, etc These are people you are spending weeks to months together to get a project right. I guess Taylor feels safe with Jack and a few other producers she has kept around that she trusts. Yeah she could outsource a new crew, but if it’s not organic and with a strong vision of what the project should be like (think Aaron joining folklore), she should stick with what works for her. Hot producers just because are a no no. Dan has a great working relationship with Olivia and Ariel did wonders for HAIM, but that doesn’t mean they would gel with Taylor.

I actually think one day she will fully self-produce an album. That’d be interesting

NTMT is better produced than any TS album so points were made.

She could do with switching up the sound at this stage. Perhaps Finneas, Blood Orange or someone completely fresh and new that we haven't heard about yet.
