Yeah no. :rip:  More like The OC or 90210. A salacious TV soap opera to talk about with friends, but it’ll age.

Sure but the closest thing yet... in terms of cultural impacts ... Zendaya, Syndey and jacob erloby all became because of their sex appeal for example

If ur so bothered by sex stop watching TV-MA stanped shows

I can understand why. Most sex scenes nowadays are pointless, add nothing to the story and are just added for the sake of it.  They should use that screentime for actual character development.

Euphoria is the worst offender of this imo

Sex scenes are often pointless and unnecessary, I'm also uncomfortable watching a show full of those.

I only recently heard “Hurry up and cum, I don’t have all day for sex” from a Gen Z individual.

The fact that their attention span influences their sexual life like this :deadbanana2:

It's crazy how sex-averted and lowkey puritan gen z became

"gen z watches too much porn, that's the reason"...who ******* care, tell them to not watch it :coffee2:

imagine thinking art shouldn't show bodies and showing bodies and sex is not art.

To be fair it's a reaction to the "pornification" of sex everywhere, which has resulted in a host of problems that we're only now beginning to discover. Studies have shown that online porn has a numbing effect on the brain, dulls the libido, creates unrealistic expectations around actual sex and intimacy, etc. Erectile dysfunction rates are through the roof in young men. It's alarming.

Most of Gen Z lives with family wants to watch TV in peace without family members walking in and seeing them watching some vulgar sex scene that was pointlessly added. It's awkward.

I watched Oppenheimer with my family and I felt so awkward during the sex scenes in that movie. :rip:

They won't because they're weak minded with FOMO, literally go on IMDb and if you scroll to the bottom, it has a parental section that will tell you if there's sex in a movie or series. I can't take any of this complaining seriously.

And movies/TV shows (except for some HBO series) don't even show sex anymore compared to the past.

Puriteens are WILD. Truly a conservative mindset. :rip:

Do you need to jerk off or something? Sex is not that as important as you make it seem

As they should. The same old tired sex scenes again and again that generally don't contribute much is pointless.

Give me an actual plot and engaging dialogue!

Which movies or shows are actually showing that armpit sniffing (or anyhting remotely similar), lol And Elite doesn't count. Hdhd

Series like Normal People are excellent examples of shows using sex as a vital plot point between young people. We f*ck and not showing that when it's necessary is kinda stupid.

I just think people think dumb stuff like The Idol is the norm, and no, that's actually not the case nowadays.

Sex and nudity are an intricate part of the human nature and human condition. Cinema, tv, photography are always a kind of spectacle / voyeurism. Audiences crave, on some level, to view both what they know but also what is unknown or hidden. I don't get the argument that sex scenes are pointless or/and unnecessary when they can give both a certain feel to a work of art and also serve an aesthetic.

I think the key word here is "want less sex" and more "focus on platonic relationships". It's not advocating for censorship of sex scenes or deleting the ones that already exist but expressing what they want in to be shown in the stuff they watch, not real life. I kinda get it given how much romance focused media is and many sex scenes are depicting teenagers (characters, not the actors) and are shown through the male gaze so they get bad rep. So like if you wanna see that might as well see porn so you can at least the whole thing :skull: Of course that if it was completely against sex scenes as in they should be censored I would disagree but I don't think that's the main message here (although I know some genz would agree with this)

Yes, you're right about the key word less, as well as the male gaze. The conversation about the male gaze is a very complicated one because it informs everything in our lives, not just art. I remember talking with two great friends of mine, pretty open minded people, who insisted that the female body is subjectively more beautiful than the male body. And the key word here is subjectively: society has dictated that a female body should be presented more because it's more interesting for everybody; this of course erases the female or the gay gaze and ends up in obscuring the male form and homosexual/female desire.

I don’t get why people are so weirded out by sex scenes. It feels kind of performative for Gen Z to complain so much about it at this point. I also think leaving sex scenes and portrayals of eroticism to only *****graphy is super damaging. I think there’s definitely ways to incorporate sex scenes in the right way.
