Like we really don’t need full on scenes - just show them making out for a few secs and start to take off their clothes and leave the obvious implication that they had sex. Shows like ELITE do the absolute most with their sex scenes. 1

So weird, of course they’re uncomfortable when watching with parents or friends and they’re all going through puberty jfc Because it’s not just sex but romance subplots in general they want less of also
elevate Posted October 27, 2023 Posted October 27, 2023 I wonder if this actually true or if they're just saying this, though. Shows like Shameless became resurgent hits via Tiktok due to sex as the main selling point. Euphoria is the most tweeted about show ever. It has a massive following on other social media as well. You can say one thing here, but actions speak louder than words. 3
The Witch Posted October 27, 2023 Posted October 27, 2023 If anything, we need MORE sex and eye candy @Leptine @ChapelHooker 1

But it is on topic, I'm glad somebody noticed the second part of the headline. It literally says they want more representation of asexuality and the spectrum of it, therefore also platonic relationships. It's a shame that Sex Education went viral because it portrayed asexuality with respect and honesty for probably the first time in media for god knows how long. I relate to that a lot even though I'm not 100% asexual. I only learned in my 20s that not desiring sex is as normal as desiring sex in any other way. But even children get bombarded with expectations of if you don't desire romance and/or sex/hookups, you're probably damaged. I think that's a great point that unfortunately gets lost under "concerned" voices whether we have enough sex scenes in media.

Vrx. Posted October 27, 2023 Posted October 27, 2023 It’s because they’re sheltered losers that cannot hold relationships 2
sickofwaitingtables Posted October 27, 2023 Posted October 27, 2023 Sex and nudity are an intricate part of the human nature and human condition. Cinema, tv, photography are always a kind of spectacle / voyeurism. Audiences crave, on some level, to view both what they know but also what is unknown or hidden. I don't get the argument that sex scenes are pointless or/and unnecessary when they can give both a certain feel to a work of art and also serve an aesthetic.
Mitsouko Posted October 27, 2023 Posted October 27, 2023 HBO Original Series style sex is the worst. Other than that I don't get why these children are mad?

conquxror Posted October 27, 2023 Posted October 27, 2023 not me, personally! i want MORE sex in tv shows and movies! i love pointless nudity!
Mr. Blue_Shirt Posted October 27, 2023 Posted October 27, 2023 Maybe this is my interpretation of this, but obviously there's a difference between "gen z wants less sex on screen" and “gen z wants to see an emphasis on non-romantic relationships” or “gen z thinks that sex scenes don’t add anything to the story” Also combined with the fact that the subject's age are from ages 13-24, so i’m not shocked that young teens feel this way about sex scenes in general lol 1
Leppie Posted October 27, 2023 Posted October 27, 2023 It's mostly pointless and if we wanna watch that, well we have sites to do so 1
Trent W Posted October 27, 2023 Posted October 27, 2023 I kind of agree Sex overexposure has been insane in the last 2 decades, it’s so unnecessary and not special anymore. It used to be a cheap way to stimulate viewers. Once everything and everyone is so sexualized is even hard to get hard anymore. Especially with p-orn being in every corner online I kind of want less sex on screen too.
Bloodflowers. Posted October 27, 2023 Posted October 27, 2023 Most of Gen Z lives with family wants to watch TV in peace without family members walking in and seeing them watching some vulgar sex scene that was pointlessly added. It's awkward.
LittleStarmen Posted October 27, 2023 Posted October 27, 2023 But EUPHORIA is the equivalent of Gen Z's Mean Girls/Breakfast Club/Clueless and that show is all about sex. This is just a bad formulated question. If anything they are consuming more sex
Dr. Alexander Posted October 27, 2023 Posted October 27, 2023 I’m not sure why sex scenes are even still a thing. Sex scenes were an answer to the conservative and strict rules for television and film prior to the 60s. You saw a lot of nudity and sex in the late-60s because it was considered “artistic and taboo”. It isn’t anymore so they shouldn’t even exist.
Fitzswiftie Posted October 27, 2023 Posted October 27, 2023 Whenever this topic comes out (and how unnecessary sexuality is), I always came back to this tweet about Bridgerton.

Zendayababes Posted October 27, 2023 Posted October 27, 2023 When it's used for marketing ploys w/ literal garbage like White Lotus then yes, otherwise I don't mind. 2
