stevyy Posted October 27, 2023 Posted October 27, 2023 So, why did we need 327 threads about Mariah being a flop over the past 20 years? People literally said that J.LO was a bigger music artist than Mariah Carey. People literally said that Mariah was unknown outside New York state and Los Angeles metropolitan area. Like? A fad, they said... a Christmas related fad, they screamed from the top of their lungs, shifting their larynx. Impactless, flop, local, unknown that's what they wrote on their arms, with black markers before running over a MIMI cassette with their bicycles. I am confused now? Should I trust Guinness? Or is XY from ATRL more correct on this issue? 1 2
ScorpiosGroove Posted October 27, 2023 Posted October 27, 2023 a great top 5 actually interesting how some girls aren’t present but hey we’re used to that and so are they
Chris Posted October 27, 2023 Posted October 27, 2023 9 hours ago, The Music Industry said: Well, that's "record sales", which is a questionable methodology where singles sales and album sales have the exact same worth. Using that methodology, someone like Chris Brown is a "better selling" artists than Adele, Barbra Streisand, ABBA, Fleetwood Mac, Britney Spears, Prince, Frank Sinatra, etc. Take that as you will If Taylor was number 1 you would not be typing this though. So.... 2

WHat will happen to our legends when these new ones pushed them down these alltime lists into oblivion? It's like they have never existed. 1
satellites.™ Posted October 27, 2023 Posted October 27, 2023 THe girlies are PRESSED because generational changes meant digital singles became the best metric of measuring popularity amongst music artists. Rihanna earned her spot as did Beyonce, get over it! When streaming is added in the correct way yall are REALLY gonan gag. 1
BnPac Posted October 27, 2023 Posted October 27, 2023 7 hours ago, allforyou said: This. Unless they counted Destiny's Child for Beyoncé's sales Celine has sold more records than her. Other than that the list is accurate. 11 hours ago, Elusive Chanteuse said: Celine is definitely there before Beyonce I would think. The list combines albums and singles and on that basis, Beyoncé, the solo artist has sold more than Céline. She is the 2nd best singles' seller on the list and 3rd all time after Eminem. It's a flawed methodology but I don't understand why she's being singled out.
KatyPrismSpirit Posted October 27, 2023 Posted October 27, 2023 in conclusion, Chartmasters knows nothing. Shocked at how high Rihanna sits but not really that surprised thinking about how many iconic hits she has globally. These five are definitely the biggest female artists ever 1
lonnie Posted October 27, 2023 Posted October 27, 2023 But when we said that most official tracking entities combine records we were told we were lying. You just have to laugh

Suddenly, “puRE SaLes1!1” don’t matter. 53 minutes ago, satellites.™ said: THe girlies are PRESSED because generational changes meant digital singles became the best metric of measuring popularity amongst music artists. Well they'll just have to cling to the fan-made and fan-owned Chartmasters while we stick to the ACTUAL entities responsible for tracking and certifying I fear 1

I understand the methodology now. I just know in the lists I’ve seen Celine was right behind Madonna in pure sales past Mariah and Whitney so I was curious.
QueenBeyoncé Posted October 27, 2023 Posted October 27, 2023 (edited) 13 hours ago, BnPac said: Sorry but the list is flawed. Whitney and Céline sold more. Singles do not equal albums. But Whitney & Celine totals ALSO include single sales, vhs tapes etc are in their record sales as well. One era benefited from albums more than physical singles and another era benefited more with digital sales than physical. it’s just that simple. Edited October 27, 2023 by QueenBeyoncé 1

ATRL user “Artistofthedecade” ? Or the sourceless website “chartmasters”? 1

Most consumed* As Guinness clearly states, this list is highest selling female artists in pure sales. She is still below the likes of Mariah, Taylor, Celine etc. when it comes to consumption
