She definitely grew up with relative privilege. Not sure why she’d split hairs on this topic.

Doesn’t mean they were wealthy or people with status. I totally understand in a way why people have attached this idea to her, given that people like to undermine her work and it was easy to believe because her persona was so lush when she debuted. But in 2023, let’s stop this fictitious narrative. :clap3:

A lot of these celebrities are out of touch. They see their wealth now compared to what they grew up and think “wow we really were poor. Now I can buy anything I want!” When their version of poor was a 2 story house (but not in a gated neighborhood!!), lots of opportunity, never having to worry about phone bill or electricity being cut off etc. but maybe daddy didn’t buy them their dream car and they didn’t have a chauffeur, a maid, or private chef so their memories of having to cook and clean makes them think they were poor lol. Rich can mean many things which is why the rich will never agree that they were/are rich until they really experience what it’s like to be lower/middle class. With that said there’s no shame in growing up rich, that’s what everyone wants and wants their offspring to have. Just don’t even address it if you really can’t accept it.

Oh get real. Not taking anything away from Lana, but let's not act like she wasn't wealthy, there are artists like Cupcakke who actually grew up in homeless shelters.

what's with her obsession to seem "poor"? You were a privileged white girl, there's nothing wrong with that, almost all stars had families with some money

Screaming at how yall consider households with actual jobs, with one parent being a startup entrepreneur and another being an underpaid school teacher with three kids to feed, as “rich” and “wealthy” :deadbanana2: yall are either extremely out of touch or just feeding on food stamp for so long that you hate people who can attempt to feed themselves and not on the verge of absolute poverty line

I can believe they weren’t rich persay, but she definitely came from a decent middle class background at least. I’m sure they struggled like everyone else but lbr her family wasn’t poor.

Love my girl, but she was not poor and didn't come from a background where she had no money in there family.

I don't know if I believe that... Her father seemed rich. Same with Gaga.

she was definitely upper middle class at best. once you are living at a level where you can buy anything, you look back at your previous life and of course you’ll think you were “poor” if you can now afford anything you want

The US is obsessed with a rags to riches tale, but it’s so contradictory because so many of its icons are either nepobabies or very comfortable middle class people. They want the street cred so bad and it never translates well when you hear the details about their struggle, especially when you had to move to an upper class environment to “feel” a degree of poverty lol that’s not how it workkksss

It’s so dumb and unserious to minimize the success of anyone who didn’t grow up poor. If having family money is all it took to be a globally renowned singer, then almost every teen white girl with a rich dad would be one.

She didn't say she was "poor". She said she didn't grew up rich, and from what was posted here about her family past, she's right

It’s an ingrained mentality that capitalism espouses. The belief that if someone works hard and is motivated that they too can become wealthy. It’s a flawed way of thinking because the reality is that very few people actually become wealthy in a capitalist society who don’t already have generational wealth to help them. Outside a few outliers the system is designed to make the rich richer and poor stay poor.

at best :spin:

She never had to support herself, that's why she could venture into singing and songwriting. And it's not like it's a bad thing cause Lana is an amazing artist. Just drop this "I was a waitress" schtick cause you never were (no, wearing Denny's uniform for a pic does not count).
