Saintlor Posted October 19, 2023 Posted October 19, 2023 I dont believe any celebrities who say they didnt grow up rich, but maybe a few are the exception
suburbannature Posted October 19, 2023 Posted October 19, 2023 (edited) Anyone who doesn’t get all of their info from tweets already knew this. Her dad was a real estate domain seller and she had an extended relative pay for her to go to private school because of addiction. They were upper middle class - not some industry-connected wealthy family. Edit: Actually, she was only able to go to the boarding school because her uncle was an admissions officer and secured financial aid. Edited October 19, 2023 by suburbannature

ontherocks Posted October 19, 2023 Posted October 19, 2023 This debate is so old, tired and boring. She shouldn't even feed the trolls and just enjoy her paycheck while they remain poor and untalented

They seemed upper middle class for sure but not these wealthy old money types who funded her career that the music blogs used to always start their articles on her with. Quote When Lana was born (née Lizzy Grant), he and her mom found themselves dragging a stroller up a five-story walk-up. They realized they had to get out. The family moved up to Lake Placid, in the Adirondacks. (Mom and Rob are now both in Florida.) He was working as a real estate agent, though he kept an eye on a nascent thing called the internet. Grant realized that nobody would be searching his name when looking for a house. But something like, say, AdirondackRealEstate.com? That was gold. 1

Big Bad Wolf Posted October 19, 2023 Posted October 19, 2023 I’m glad she’s finally speaking up against things like this. She could ignore it and that’d be fine, but why not clock the BS. I love this for her. Now go stream Put The Radio On!
_love_pop_girls_ Posted October 19, 2023 Posted October 19, 2023 I don't think she had NO money but y'all are acting like her dad was Elon Musk rich or something. Get a jobbbbbb
GraceRandolph Posted October 19, 2023 Posted October 19, 2023 She definitely grew up with relative privilege. Not sure why she’d split hairs on this topic. 3
uusagii Posted October 19, 2023 Posted October 19, 2023 I don't think her family's wealth was on the calibre of, say, Julian Casablanca, but they definitely were affluent
50thStateofMind Posted October 19, 2023 Posted October 19, 2023 so weʻre splitting hairs between "upper middle class" and "rich"...okay... 2 1
Digitalism Posted October 19, 2023 Posted October 19, 2023 I think people like her and Victoria are a little bit out of touch because later in life they saw people who were filthy rich and they compare themselves to those people 1

Cost of living upstate in exponentially cheaper.

A man sitting at home selling domain names and married to a high school teacher is not making that kind of money. It's just been a convenient drag for people for years. The first producer she worked with also confirmed that he did not help finance her early adulthood or transition into music.
Antikythera Posted October 19, 2023 Posted October 19, 2023 Maybe she wasnt Paris Hilton level o rich, but i doubt she ever was paycheck to paycheck. Artists love the "i worked hard" plot and fans love to believe it because they can relate. In the end all big popstars had a lot of connections way before the lead single is ever recorded and almost always this means afluent lifestyle.
