“Rappers Are Slowly Getting Booked Less And Less To Perform At Festivals” - Offset

Eh I don't think it has anything to do with people wanting more big productions from rappers. It's always dependent on the artist. Adele could sell out a stadium tour with a set of just her a piano and some pretty images on a screen behind her. Drake is the epitome of just walking around on stage and he's on one of the biggest rap tours of all time.

Rap was just the most dominant genre for over half a decade and now it's in decline so naturally there's less demand for rappers to perform.

Country music (at least in the US) is now repeaking and fans are happy to pay hundreds of dollars to watch Morgan Wallen stumble around half drunk of stage and strum a few chords while lip syncing.

Is it?

I do know country is on the rise on the various Billboard charts in 2023, but was not aware at whose expense that was.

In any case it's a domestic thing  — country makes no blip outside the US. It's always very niche, even including this year, just as it always was in the past.

Hip-Hop is slowly being phased out, period.

Ebro stated not too long ago that label execs are starting to shift their support and investment to Latin artists and Afrobeat artists.

As it should be. Rappers usually go on stage to lip sync and standing still. They dont even right their own material and it is always the same BS about being a criminal, have money and ass.

You people are weird

I don't care about rap. The only time I cared was for lyric rap, when they would say something with meaning in a smart way, but this is long dead.

Imagining like Minaj and 300 X the same song about being rich, big ass and usual bullshit. lol I remember one time I went to listen Starships, I was surprised of how bad it was, like in hell this must be the theme song in the entrance lobby.

U are strange!

Some of these comments are a **** show. You’re saying rappers don’t do enough on stage to warrant a spot in a festival yet the rock bands and DJ’s who were the original genre of festival performers, did the same amount on stage or even LESS. The points make no sense

You should be old enough to realize what plays on popular mainstream radio doesn’t fully encompass a genre or the artists that cater to that sound. Nicki has a lot of songs that aren’t about money or ass. Her last single had nothing of that subject matter.

Hip hop was the rock n roll of the 2000s-2010s, its spoke to a lot of people of that generation and peaked in huge relevance in the streaming boom. But things change. That’s ok. Sounds come and go in relevance.

Although it’s important to note one of the biggest hits his summer was fukumean, a hip hop song

I saw Tyler the Creator headline a festival and he put on a SHOW. You just need good music and good energy. Of course these new mumble rappers and talentless losers aren’t gonna get booked.

Rappers like Tyler or Kendrick are not having these "can't get booked at festivals" issues like some of their male peers because they are talented, ever evolving in their work and like to give the people a show. Hell, Tyler has been running his own festival since 2012. This year is the first year it's been back since covid though. SZA and The Hillbillies (Kendrick/Baby Keem) are his co-headliners. I wish I would've gotten a carnival pass but them ******* sold out like hot cakes lol.

Nothing they said mattered after "I don't care about rap", like why even chime in then. But I echo your sentiments

Some rappers like Kendrick, J. Cole to a certain extent and Tyler, the Creator's audience will always show up and out because they know how to put on a show. Even rappers from the 80s to early 2000s were more entertaining to watch without big production value. Younger/newer rappers of today, especially the men, just don't have the vision or physical capabilities like breath control or stage presence to put on a show worth watching.

They need to start making their own festivals like how country does.

Make Country artist don’t do nothing but stumble around drunk on stage

It’s not even just that. I’ve been to festivals and concerts where the rappers don’t dance/choreo but they’re still energetic and interacting with the crowd. These festivals probably aren’t trying to book them because they arrive 30 minutes late, and do 2 songs, then leave.

LITERALLY, this is horrible. They have the vocal track on the background playing and they just rap one or two verses then move on. And the annoying DJs playing that air horn noise in between songs every 30 seconds...

step your production up like 50 cent

They should take notes from Azealia Banks, its not about walking back and forth but about commanding the stage and the audience and having the BOPS to back it up

I wonder if were experiencing some sort of music shift to Poppier music or Rockier-Electronic one.
Hip Hop dominated all over the 2000s and after 2015.  I wonder if we are starting to experience the shift of culture THANKS to the new gen alpha.
:eli:

Or maybe this will be the start of another R&B wave? Im here for more Ushers and The Weekends....NE-Yos. :gaycat5:

Gen-alpha will change the game around 2026. They be a large group of teenagers by then and will bring their own styling and taste to these genres. And the music industry will no longer cater to gen-z. All you have to do is pay attention where are these little kids showing interest in artist and genres.

I would only listen to her if I was paid to do it. I hate her whole vibe, image and personally she doesn't seem to be someone I would ever want to be less than 50km away from.

The only thing I’ll say is that there is a reason that the female rap has been dominating this year and that’s because they put in the WORK. I’d like to see the same from the guys
