Also I can't tell if people are trolling about the streaming numbers or if they're genuinely confused.

Katy's a YouTube force and always has been since Firework, but YouTube doesn't count for these stats unfortunately. She's never been very big on Spotify and hasn't had a proper hit in the Spotify era. CTTR did decently but that was 4 months ago. Rise, BA and SS all stalled under 60M.

Still not an excuse considering she has Spotify deal :gaycat2:

well obviously because you're comparing sales of albums that have been out for a decade to Witness' first week :deadbanana3: it will obviously sell more than 500k in the long run.

The efforts.

Also i can't at people acting like US = the world. Witness album will surpass Joanne and Glory in streams effortlessly, Chained To The Rhythm alone has more streams than Perfect Illusion and MR combined.

can you outline what benefits she has from this deal, please? Do you expect Spotify to fabricate streams for her? She hasn't had any additional coverage than any other new release would get.

You said that because Katy failed to take that advantages. Don't make me digging that Katy's Spotify deal thread :fan:

The SPS equivalent to one sale. 150 streams=1 sale.

No, that's the ratio for single certifications. For albums, 1,500 streams = one sale.

Regardless, I'm happy for Katy's numbers. Remember how much the market has declined since PRISM. Katy Perry has typically scored underwhelming opening week numbers, but then her albums hang around for 2+ years.

Tragic :lmao:

I'm sure I'm not the first to ask this , but as everyone can see it's 88 pages in here.  How much did she sell without tickets bundle?

Teenage Dream opened with only 192k in a much stronger sales climate, a #1 single and a top-ten single. Her and Rihanna are very similar in the sense that they open with okay first week numbers and sell consistently and do well in the end.

Yes, but that was with multiple number one singles, and Part of Me really extended the era into oblivion.  Katy's already pushed three singles out, and Swish Swish is obviously not performing well enough to keep people checking.  The album itself was critically panned, and she currently has a negatively skewed perception in the media.  How many other singles can she release to keep it alive, anyway?

so the album was streamed 2,550,000 times in the US. Considering Witness (song) got that alone, it must be doing much better WW.

Nah 1500 not 150

But also 3-4k from the 17k are from track sales. So something in the 20M US streams range.

And Youtube doesnt count here.

Yes it is. Without Tour Bundle, the numbers would be tragic.

 Good for her team though.

Not gonna lie, I expected 250k with her tour bundle.

Basically arguing over who flopped less. :ahh:

i love how y'all keep saying this when Gaga's been outdoing Katy 2:1 this era :lmao:   not Gaga flopping with Joanne even tho it's country and had 2 singles yet still sold 1.2M WW  opened with 200k in the USA when the lead single hadn't even been performed anywhere, the only promo Gaga did in the US was in the album's first week and that was just SNL and Carpool :rip:    And then whatever she did after that.  If Gaga had a bundle, she'd sell 300k+  something Katy and Rihanna have never done, so idk what you're trying :rip:

Katy had 3 award shows for her lead single alone.

Katy's Spotify deal was a few billboards to my knowledge, so that's further confirmation that playola doesn't exist in the capacity that atrl thinks. You can't force people to press play and listen to at least 30 seconds of the song. 10 seconds and then skip? Doesn't count!

Also, those that have bought tickets to the tour can redeem the album at any time and it'll count towards the charts. These are good numbers considering the era stalled a bit.

Katy's cool. I'm so done disliking her, in case anyone hasn't figured it out yet.

Props for not being basic and and repeating the same basic 'drags' we are used to lately.

There's no need to repeat 'ticket bundle' or 'payola' every 5 seconds. We get it. I think she knows it and she's just enjoying the moment and doing what she feels. If she is wrong she will fix it in the future. Fans are getting a new album after 4 years and #1 album, plus a top 5 hit. Other artists work hard their entire lives for this kind of success.

The numbers are not bad at all considering that she basically had no support from radio and the media this era. The streams are bad though, I thought she would do more there. But who cares
