LadyLana Posted June 16, 2017 Posted June 16, 2017 SZA So happy for her! Glad Katy got her #1. It's gross what the media is doing to her, and the album isn't as bad as everyone says it is.

Let's remember 134 pages of history. https://classic.atrl.net/forums/showthread.php?p=36893928#post36893928 Kikiki. Katy won't cross 200k though so don't see where you're going
TattooedDreams Posted June 16, 2017 Posted June 16, 2017 Just now, SilencePlease said: $3.99 upon release. Q4 With country, a sound that actually sells albums in 2017. Katy followed trends WITH Max Martin, SIA, and many other trendy producers please give me a break lol. A limited 24 hour discount doesn't compare to a tour scam.

In 2016/2017, neither one of these opening week numbers are bad at all, both are good, but when you take into account other factors surrounding the release, Gaga's come off as more of a success. I'm sorry but for Gaga that is a flop.
Rusty Posted June 16, 2017 Posted June 16, 2017 1 minute ago, SilencePlease said: $3.99 upon release. Q4 With country, a sound that actually sells albums in 2017. Imagine if she had a tour bundle. Gaga would have blasted towards 300K!
Dante Posted June 16, 2017 Posted June 16, 2017 All the promo, a hit lead, ticket bundle, 72h livestream with major celebs etc etc etc + music made for radio and coming of a huge era with two smash ww songs.... Thats bad
Instant Posted June 16, 2017 Posted June 16, 2017 1 minute ago, SilencePlease said: $3.99 upon release. Q4. With country, a type of sound that actually sells albums in 2017. Then explain how come HDD predicted Joanne to do 120k/140k after the first day that included the Amazon discount sales and then the album ended up with 170k/201k after the rest 6 days of sales?

Katy was coming off of PRISM, Gaga was coming off of ARTPOP... if it's a flop for Gaga, then this is tragic for Katy Utilise the brain please Edited June 16, 2017 by LadyLana
Thor Posted June 16, 2017 Posted June 16, 2017 1 minute ago, SilencePlease said: $3.99 upon release. Q4 With country, a sound that actually sells albums in 2017. But all this time ya'll kept saying that Joanne isn't a country album and now all of a sudden it is? OT: Good for Katy, I guess. But I was expecting at least 250k - 300K with the bundle.

State of Grace. Posted June 16, 2017 Posted June 16, 2017 5 minutes ago, SilencePlease said: $3.99 upon release. Q4. With country, a kind of sound that actually sells albums in 2017. still she didn't have a tour bundle, which would've probably pushed her to +300k easily OT: congrats Katy

The only other female who debuted with more than Gaga and crossed 200k was Beyonce so how is it bad for Gaga? Standards for her are much lower than they were back in 2011. She debuted with 258k back in 2013 and did 201k in 2016
Witnessed ET Posted June 16, 2017 Posted June 16, 2017 4 minutes ago, SilencePlease said: $3.99 upon release. Q4. With country, a kind of sound that actually sells albums in 2017. Also a squeaky clean country twang image used to promote the album And also it was a year ago, not 2017 ------ Congrats Katy, not bad for someone who is "OVER"
Lemon Drops Posted June 16, 2017 Posted June 16, 2017 Billboard didn't mention Joanne's $3.99 deal meaning it had a little effect on sales. Sorry to disappoint. Back on topic.
SpaceMan Posted June 16, 2017 Posted June 16, 2017 (edited) I thought the Kats was celebrating several days ago for Witness outsold Joanne 1st week Seems like another prediction doesn't come true isn't it? Edited June 16, 2017 by SpaceMan
Hi_im_new Posted June 16, 2017 Posted June 16, 2017 5 minutes ago, Rusty said: It's by a similar margin to the difference between PRISM and ARTPOP and Katy fans went nuts over that difference for years! Only this time, there is a ticket bundle inflating the lower-selling album, too. OT: Poor numbers for Katy but not surprising. Probably because no one expected PRISM to have a bigger first week considering gaga was considered "the album seller" at the time. And it's not like she's not known for inflating her album sales with various gimmicks, so not understanding why yall are attacking katy for doing the same.
Leptine Posted June 16, 2017 Posted June 16, 2017 Not bad but not good. This would be a decent number without the tour bundle, considering the situation, but with tour bundle and all that promo it's a bit underwhelming.
h.u.r.r.i.c.a.n.e Posted June 16, 2017 Posted June 16, 2017 katy literally alienated half of the GP so these numbers are good considering that.
infrared Posted June 16, 2017 Posted June 16, 2017 wow Witness is a worldwide flop. #6 in the U.K, #10 in Germany
