Which one is still charting? :sorry:  "Moment 4 Life" artistically surpasses anything from IOP by a country MILE, but IOP also charted every record, and Cardi got 2 #1s as a lead artist in her maiden run of 5 singles. Impressive.

I'm also disappointed an album with Kanye, Eminem, Rihanna, Drake, Will.I.Am, AND Lil' Wayne is not really selling enough to chart right now because the artist who made it has become so unlikeable.

Female rap never made it out of America except for Lauren. Pink Friday sold 600-700K album pure sales and roughly 2M digital single sales (mostly from that pop song), that probably gives Nicki the edge.

Considering the gap in US is not massive maybe international units might change the scenario. I voted for Cardi in the end though. :michael:

ANTI isn’t Rihanna’s second biggest era in the U.S.

Yes it is, it’ll also be her biggest album in about 2 years or so since it’s charting regularly unlike the other two. It’s at 5.5m units while Loud is around 4m max since it was carried 3x platinum in 2018 and doesn’t chart. Needed Me and Work are bigger than OG and S&M in the states and LOTB will be bigger than WMN if not already. KIB also did better than Man Down, California King Bed, Raining Men or Cheers. Plus the album tracks are bigger too. WW is another story though.
-
Pink Friday will definitely be at more than 5.8m units that IOP according to CM. It’s at 3m pure sales (2.1m in the US and 400k in the UK alone) plus great streaming and digital sales. It’s also outstreaming it on Spotify. 988k vs 1.03m and one is a streaming era album :rip:

IoP stats are inflated because of streaming. PF would be obliterating those numbers if it was released in 2018. We're comparing apples and oranges here, I can't tell if there a lot of younger members or not because Nicki at her debut was much more culturally huge than Cardi at hers, and it ain't close :rip:

Pink Friday was undoubtably bigger and any argument otherwise is just a bit delusional. But IOP was better so not a total Cardi L.

Pink Friday is bigger, more iconic, and memorable

Cardi is already forgotten low key

I don't think Cardi is forgotten, but then again I never really cared much for her music.

I don't think she is forgotten because many Redditors bring her up when it comes to celebrity conversations how she is a "bad role model" or how she "ruined music."

The truth is though that only the target demographic is the one talking about her, so If someone dislikes her music, it is probably because they belong to the demographic of music consumers(aka the "it generation").

To be invited to the VMA's perhaps shows she still has some relevancy. I think the "fame" she has now has to due with her being scandalous and not the music(throwing microphones, the titanic submarine video reply, etc...)

Pink Friday.

Nicki was everywhere getting back to back hits.

Bodak Yellow is the only popular song that came out of Cardi's first era.

It’s very evident that many people commenting in here were not alive to experience the MOMENT Pink Friday was, even if IOP had higher numbers. It literally broke down the doors to a new generation of female rap being mainstream.

PF walked so IOP could run, that’s the point…plus PF is extremely under-certified, alongside the rest of Nicki’s albums. By the time IOP dropped, female rap was already mainstream. When PF dropped it wasn’t, and it opened those doors. Not everything in these discussions is always numbers-based.

This is an extremely huge point people are conveniently leaving out of this discussion to fit their narrative; how the streaming era has inflated RIAA certifications like never before, and if you’re just gonna use RIAA-certifications as your main argument, you have to acknowledge that as well.

That’s a mere fact and you’re lying if you say otherwise. :rip:

That said…

”Super Bass” is arguably more famous than any IOP single but it had an 8 year head start.

It’s been 5 years and none of the IOP singles are getting the recurrent streams or sale of Super Bass :rip:

Didn’t BY come out during the streaming eta but is getting out streamed by pre streaming single, Super Bass :rip:

Culturally, as I never really concern myself with numbers, I'll say Pink Friday. That era was truly a special moment in pop culture, being as impactful and memorable as it was. So many of the singles she was releasing were just all great songs that I remember getting a significant amount of play on the radio. It was an exciting time, with Nicki having a very prominent placement in pop culture.
