It's like Amy Winehouse, Lana Del Rey, and Sia/Rihanna met at a blues bar. @Johnny Jacobs & @glitch... I don't hear Kim Zolciak here. I just think she needed some time away from the toxic group to find her (solid) voice. Melody is a fantastic singer. Her tone and vibrato are just so unique and distinct. Love Will Return is one of my favorite songs from the last few years. It would sound SO good in a Quentin Tarantino movie. I stan Nicole, but she has YET to match that song. mrpartyrocker Posted September 28, 2023 Posted September 28, 2023 80% of the time all the girls had mics in their hands so of course everyone would expect all of them to sing… of course, the label’s fault, nothing to do with Nicole. Although I’m sure the other girls are talented as well to some certain degree, but clearly Nicole was the best vocalist out of all of them and I don’t think the hits would’ve worked the same as they did if all their voices were on them. Nicole’s tone fits perfectly on songs like Buttons or Don’t Cha. I mean that’s why when you listen to Melody’s adlibs, the song sounds butchered. Just imagine buttons sang in full by Melody… would’ve been a mess. I wish they just had Nicole as a singer and the others as dancers without pretending they sang any of the words… too bad, PCD has always been one of my favourite girl groups and would’ve loved to hear more from them 1

Once again, Interscope doing some bullshit.

Also this Girl that voice needs a lot of work. She cannot control her tone whatsoever. It sounds like a mess. She is massively talented, but screaming doesn’t mean you sing. Sometimes you need to turn it town a notch. Melody never worked as a singer because she tries too hard Edited September 28, 2023 by mrpartyrocker 1

Melody never worked as a singer because she tries too hard I see what you mean. But especially in her last EP, she seemed to have take control over her voice. She was much smoother.

Nicole, the deserved lead, and Melody aiding her but still featuring heavily. They were a dynamic duo and it makes for a more interesting performance. Many times Nicole was simply out of breath for trying to sing the whole song and dance at the same time - When I Grow Up live performances are a great examples of this. Simply, Nicole was greedy and continues the discredit Melody, who was never a trained dancer. The Behind the Music documentary showed her for what she is, trying to garner sympathy for a situation she had influence over. She just didn't want to share spotlight vs someone like Bey who was the lead but happily let Michelle & Kelly shine too. What makes you think that any singers of a band have full control of the group’s trajectory? They play by what their managers and labels say. Destiny’s Child was managed by Bey’s dad, that’s a totally different story, clearly Bey had more saying in that band than Nicole ever had in her whole career (a good example is her solo career which has been a nonsense from the beginning) 1
UnderratedVocalist Posted September 28, 2023 Posted September 28, 2023 Also, if you're in the UK and like musical theater, go check out Nicole in Sunset Bvrd on the West End in London. She's literally smashing it, reviews are calling it a ground breaking performance and she's getting her Olivier next year. Let's see if talent will win this time

And let's not even pretend like Interscope didn't crash her debut solo era so she could run back to PCD and make them their millions. That's where the money was for them. She would even decide each girls screen time in music videos.

Mean Trees Posted September 28, 2023 Posted September 28, 2023 @trainsskyscrapers Shout out to you using Sing About You as a representative song! My fave on the project. 1

My fave on the project. Glad you like it! For anyone who hasn't listened to the entire project, I chose it because it's probably the most "accessible" (which is why I mentioned Sia/Rihanna as it sounds like a Rih/Sia/StarGate/Ester Dean writing camp song).
DuffStan Posted September 29, 2023 Posted September 29, 2023 PCD, unsolved and unfinished mystery/business I know Robin owns the brand and everything but didn't Nicole perform PCD songs at Sydney Pride? Can the girls reunite without Robin?!

Nicole is done being paint as the villain everytime she is associated with PCD. I feel like she is also done with it.
