Mehh

So they're just offering the halftime to anyone at this point aren't they? Seems like the big names have all turned them down. Even Billie or Olivia could've been more interesting choices.

I'm against males doing Superbowl. A truly non event whenever a person with a ***** steps on that stage. That justin timber "performance" put me to sleep.

Usher was the perfect choice since forever, very surprised but happy it's finally official :clap3:

Peace Down, A-Town will CLEAR your faves :clap3::jonny5:

DJ Got Us Falling In Love is one of my favorite songs. One of the first songs smashing when I got into pop music.  Hope it’s on the setlist.

A talented SINGER, DANCER, and PERFORMER! We will be watching.

It's crazy to think Usher will have been in the business for 30 years. This is exactly like Madonna doing the Super Bowl in 2012.

im honestly surprised at the amount of people down playing his legacy but at the same time I shouldn’t be lol  Usher is one  of the most successful acts of all time and his stats puts most pop girls to shame! He is also an amazing  singer and performer.I’m hoping he stays clear from his pop edm songs of the early 10s they suck lol

My dream set list

My Way

U Got It Bad

Burn

Caught Up

My Boo w/ Alicia

Love  in this Club

Climax
There Goes My Baby

Yeah!

and still missing so many smash hits :worship2:

A lot of messiness in this thread. To be fair to the people that have been ruthlessly dragged, Usher was more successful in the states than anywhere else, and also hasn't had a hit for a while now. So maybe that's why this choice seems strange to younger people or non-Americans

But having said that, of course he is deserving of this, honestly he's probably the best male choice there is :clap3:I hope the setlist leans more into the R&B classics

For a chart obsessed forum like this you would think users would at least to their research before claiming 'he's got no hits' or stuff like that :deadbanana:

why 17 downvotes? i literally asked a question? i know usher, he had many hits in late 90s and 00s, but after not so much. he should have done the sbowl in the late 00s

The SBHTS is not about having 'hits in the last 10 years', it's about having hits or not, just that. We had artists like Madonna performing songs from the 80s and 90s for example, so the question was a little random.

What a slap in the face for both J.Lo and Shakira. They were each deserving of their own SB HT show. If Usher can get one, why couldn’t they?

Did people question Madonna or the who when they performed ?

Thinking Miley Cyrus deserves it over Usher is mental illness, I don't care what country you're from

Very good choice. Well deserved. Ready for this set list:

- You Make Me Wanna... (1997)

- U Remind Me (2001)

- U Got It Bad (2001)

- Yeah! (2004)

- Burn (2004)

- Confessions (2004)

- My Boo (2004) *Brings Alicia*
- Love In This Club (2008)

- OMG (2010)

- DJ Got Us Fallin' In Love (2010)

- Without You (2011)

- Climax (2012)

Really should have done the 2012/2013 show but I'm ready!

“Superstar” from his Confessions album would be a perfect close for the set. Although never released as a single, it sums up his career perfectly.

Madonna is the biggest selling living solo artist of all time and a living legend AND was still relevant at the time. She had the biggest female tour of all time and a global hit song and album just a couple years prior to her halftime show (4 Minutes/Hard Candy). She was very much still an A-list artist when she did it.

Usher is.. not on that level :deadbanana4: He's hasn't been relevant since like 2010 and definitely is not a legend :rip:

The public at the end of the day just cares about getting a show and remembering hits and classics, and Usher can give them all of that :giraffe:

In another example J.Lo was also way past her commercial peak, and that didn't stop her from delievering at the Super Bowl :lakitu:

He is definitely an RnB legend lmao. If Justin Timberlake got to do it solo Usher definitely should as well.

Usher has sold over 65 million albums, 100 million records and has 18 top 10 hits. Stop the madness please

JLO and Shakira never got close to Usher success in the US

I love Usher and very happy he got the SB HT (he has the hits, charisma and performance skills), but I disagree with this. J.Lo cannot be compared to Shakira and Usher on basis of success because she’s an actress first who has seen incredible success in that area alone and therefore her celebria and success cannot be boxed in and directly compared with just music in terms of “success in the US”.

That's irrelevant to the Super Bowl Half Time show though.
