But seeing him as a 00’s icon headlining solo low key makes me salty about other 00’s icons like JLo and Shakira having to co-headline back in 2020, cause both of these ladies deserved to headline their own solo shows as well Now this is the real tea. These two women have just as many solo hits as Usher but had to be paired together for the show. I was into Usher in junior high like every other white, Midwestern small town gay, but sorry, Usher is a boring choice, and this will be a forgettable halftime show. 1 1 4

Most of the pages are because people are dragging/shading him (with some microaggressions thrown in there) and the Usher fans that are on here fighting back. The biggest surprise of this thread has been Usher still having fans. Who knew /Pink?! 6

Usher's vocals, discography, performing skills, talent, etc. is far beyond Shakira and JLo. On the Hot 100, Shakira has 1 #1 and 6 top 10s. JLo has 4 #1s and 10 top 10s. Shoot, even Brandy has 2 #1s and 7 top 10s (and she's a dark skin R&B singer). Usher has 9 #1s and 18 top 10s (that's more #1s than Shakira and JLo combined and more top 10s than them combined) - and Usher also has classic albums and songs that span decades. 9 2 1

The decision to put Shakira and J.Lo together (to much protest from their camps, specifically the latter) was Jay-Z’s. Your beef is with him. They deserved to each have their own solo show but to throw Usher under the bus as a result of your anger over that decision is really transparent.

On this forum or generally? Apparently his continued streaming stats in the States don’t mean much but the goalposts keep moving with you all so I’ve lost track.

Mordecai Posted September 25, 2023 Posted September 25, 2023 Wouldn't be my first choice personally but I'd rather see an Usher show than an NSYNC or Miley one. At least we know it's in good hands cause he knows how to put on a show and has great stage presence
superben Posted September 25, 2023 Posted September 25, 2023 He has such a strong discography. Easy for him to pick a few of his hits for the half time show.

Shakira is bigger globally but that's less relevant to the SB. Edited September 25, 2023 by Axelios
Myah Marie Posted September 25, 2023 Posted September 25, 2023 Out of many artists they could invite do the to halftime show, they decided that Usher was the best option? I- He's not relevant nor he has the star power that someone like Rihanna has... But hopefully, he won't do as bad as Maroon 5 did years ago. 13

Usher is very relevant and will always be relevant to the landscape of music. He's a Legend. Usher not only has star power, he also has talent - an area where Rihanna is severely lacking. Usher is one of the greatest live performers of all time and here you go comparing him to Maroon 5. Chile... 6 2 1 1
