This is going to be great. Granted, wouldn’t be my first choice for the SBHT, but the shoe definitely fits. I can’t believe so many atrlers still don’t learn that the world doesn’t revolve around pop females :rip:

I AM EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED AT THE PEOPLE WHO CONTINUE TO USE - RACE, GENDER, SEXUAL ORIENTATION AND AGE OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN!!! JUST STOP - LIKE WTF IT'S 2023!!!!

Well, judging by your username it seems you were born in 1979, so this ignorant ass statement adds up. So yes AGE is a factor because people like you have an inherent responsibility to ensure that future generations don’t have to feel excluded, by HAVING the tough conversations that might make YOU feel uncomfortable, so that the rest of us can move forward. It’s called listening, understand and supporting a culture that you choose to partake in. You don’t get to partake in small parts of black culture like music, and then say f*ck everything else. That’s the problem.

The reason race keeps coming up in 2023 is because people like you don’t want to address or admit to partaking in the systematic oppression, prejudice and bias that comes with race. Trying to make it disappear, put it under a rug, and avoid talking about a system created by white people and enforced upon black people for 400 years is WHY we’re still talking about.

I wont even get started on clocking you about why it’s important to talk about gender and sexual orientation, because that’s a story for another day, but just know that when all the things YOU listed are a part of mine and other people’s experiences on this website we have a right to be mad.

Miley's fans acting disappointed. What would she have performed? Extended versions of party in the usa, wrecking ball and flowers with a country accent for 10 min? Also no one wanted nsync we already had JT give a really disappointing performance. After usher i hope there would be someone like Justin Bieber or Britney Spears perform cause these are the only remaining performers left with enough memorable hits.

are you telling me usher's hits are more noteworthy and bigger than flowers, wrecking ball, we can't stop and pitusa...

Yes? Yeah! is one of the biggest party classics of our lifetime, We Can't Stop is hardly referenced today and kind of cringe looking back. Wrecking Ball is an iconic video/moment, sure. Flowers on the other hand I'm not sure will hold the same cultural weight even though its numbers were crazy. Of course Usher's songs aren't as known by Gen Z but the Super Bowl is generations bigger than that. The man had more #1 hits and weeks at #1 off one album than Miley has in her career. I like her and think she would put on a fine show but yall acting like she's owed this platform over someone that's helped pave the way for her is silly. Side note this Nene gif can be hilarious across many topics but the use of it in the context of this thread is a little suspect to me. Europeans talking down on American culture as if they know better is like, why?

I’ve got to say…there’s nothing like a successful male artist to make ATRLers show their ignorance about the music industry. This has truly become a forum for the narrowest band of pop fans.

And there would honestly be nothing wrong with that if there was an ounce of self awareness. Someone's music or even their gender (lol) not being to your taste is fine, don't jump out the window with easily disproven "facts" cause it's not adding up. A site driven by US chart discussion doesn't know one of the biggest artists to ever hit that chart. Comical really.

Imagine saying you read through all 37+ pages of this thread and then having the unmitigated gall to be dismissive and not understand how we even got to this point in the first place. Dumbass.

I was happy with *NSYNC rumors, but this is a good choice. Let me go stream U Got It Bad and Burn. :jamming:

The concern is valid given the fact that Usher hasn't been musically relevant in over 10 years. The only relevance he has had in the last decade, outside of his herpes scandal, was that viral Tiny Desk moment, that he did not capitalize of off, and because of Keke Palmer. The only reason why he booked the gig is because Jay Z has some say. Outside of that, why would he be booked for the Super bowl? Can he even chart on the Billboard Hot 100? Not being able to is really, really bad for a legacy act who isn't even 45 yet.

J.LO was not  relevant musically in years when she was picked.

I could see him having a plethora of guests…

Alicia, Lil Wayne, Ludacris, Nicki.

this will be nostalgic

Yeah but she’s a way bigger star and she had a sold out an arena tour the summer before. Usher hasn’t had that since 2011…

Jennifer Lopez is extremely mediocre and has never been a bigger star than Usher. She's never even gotten close to a Diamond album. And Jennifer has stood on the shoulders of black musicians/artists/creators to make it.

Wow - Usher's SCREAM remixes are great too. Just discovered them.

Because my favorite genre is dance/pop, I would love a section of his dance performance be like this:

DJ Got Us Fallin' In Love with elements of Party Ain't Over (bring out Pitbull)

More

Scream

Somebody To Love

Without You

OMG

Yeah!

Mehh

So they're just offering the halftime to anyone at this point aren't they? Seems like the big names have all turned them down. Even Billie or Olivia could've been more interesting choices.

I'm against males doing Superbowl. A truly non event whenever a person with a ***** steps on that stage. That justin timber "performance" put me to sleep.

Man, I'm definitely getting too old for this forum with responses like this.

Anyway, solid choice. He got the classics for it.

I'm sorry, but he HAS to end with Yeah! That's his biggest bop. Don't know if biggest hit, but still.

Some of you people are ignorant and uncultured as fuckkk :deadbanana:

this is literally a PERFECT choice, he has huge hits, stage presence, dancing skills, great voice, and is in great position career wise (past his prime but relevant enough to be recognized and celebrated), he’s gonna kill it :WAP:

They don't. Most of the pages are because people are dragging/shading him (with some microaggressions thrown in there) and the Usher fans that are on here fighting back.
