Outside of the song's quality, the other reason that win was unfair is that Kim wasn't even needed. She literally brings NOTHING to the song, she sings 30 seconds in the second half and that's it. It's not even as if both artists brought something unique to the song to make it a whole and coherent project that couldn't work with only one of them. As a "duo" it's completely pointless

her vocals are on the song for a combined 1:00, including the intro and outro. the song is ~2:30 which means she sings on about 40% of the track, nearly half the time. she's a featured artist. did you expect her to sing every verse and every chorus with Sam? she has an entire second verse and adlibs. how is that bringing "NOTHING"? also, how can you call a song that two artists specifically wrote together who planned a collab for years "pointless"? would you prefer if it were pitched to someone else? your criticism makes no sense darling.

The thing about "Unholy" though is that it's clearly a Kim Petras inspired song. Was Sam Smith being s*utty and singing about hookers and cheaters before? No. Was Kim fresh from releasing S*ut Pop and clearly majorly influential to the record? Yes.

 

Also, her umph to the track is major and her iconic verse is a MAJOR highlight of the song. Plus the little giggle she does before starting her verse is thee most iconic part of the song.
