The two artists situations are very different and shouldn’t be linked, as already discussed on the first page. Playboy I don’t see making any kind of mainstream crossover return and Kim’s still a wild card.

I will just never never never never (x infinity) understand why Kim's management thinks she's going to be this new Dua Lipa sized MPG. It's not gonna happen! At best a Charli XCX sized following. "Unholy" is her only hit and even then she's the featured artist. I think as someone said earlier in this thread, even if "Alone" had been a multi-week #1, things would still be looking shaky.

 

Kim is an amazing performer and artist but arenas across USA... good lorde.

Her team forgot to realize that one of the major hits of 2022 =/= arenas and booking big venues. YouTube Theater is announcing special deals to pamper the room is not a good sign. The whole Dr. Luke scandal and her making fun of the situation and mocking it just burned bridges with some people of her target demographic. So, her not selling is... not surprising.

It was a lot of media play from their team(s) and attempts to be progressive on the voter's part.

The sad thing is that i'm 100% sure it's exactly that. I'm very progressive myself but Sam and Kim did NOT deserve that award, not for such an agressively mediocre song.

It's viewed as progressive for the mostly middle-of-America crowd which is who their team is targeting

I’m going to see her in Berlin, I’m kind of happy for her that she was able to sell

out there but when I first looked at this thread I was glad that at least the show would not be overcrowded
