She doesn’t need it, she goes #1 annually already :jonnycat:

Yeah, I believe Mariah still got it. I mean she gave us Caution 28 years into her career.

I think she still has it in her to create a timeless classic and have a comeback. I think she just needs to focus on creating songs that are within her current vocal range, instead of straining her voice and overly using autotune / melodyne like in the WBT valentines mix. Collaborations with huge artists (like what Elton John is doing) or a really great, forward thinking single would probably get people interested.

Of course she does, but she doesn’t care about her music career any more now she knows the Christmas song will earn her more than anything new ever could.

its a shame to see such a powerhouse just give up :/

With the right singles but I’m still confused by the caution era and choosing with you as a lead when the album has better choices :deadbanana:

I think she's tired and done with making new music and her voice It's not stable enough for live shows.

She should keep celebrating her past eras and get into acting again. :caffè2:

Mariah has one of the most prolific careers ever. She essentially owns Christmas season and she's focused now on doing what she wants, honoring her legacy with MC30 and performing every now and then.

She constantly has sold-out shows so her audience is very much well intact and she's still in demand.

Save that comeback story for artists without an audience or lack of commercial success.

MC is fine

She doesn't need it and had one of the biggest comebacks EVER with Emancipation. Toni Braxton deserves

She always comeback around Christmas time with this classic:

Not really. :katie: Unless she did a complete overhaul of her very threadbare image and sound, a comeback would be meaningless if it weren't already impossible. Last time she "came back" she did it with the perfect R&B/pop album for the times. Sadly she has spent the better part of two decades trying to reheat that magic with mostly diminishing returns. Caution's more progressive moments were encouraging but it's been five years and she never capitalized on how well received it was by her fans. She even expressed dissatisfaction with it. I think she's very concerned with numbers and charts and records; when she saw how poorly Caution performed she just gave up and pivoted fully to her Christmas music which is guaranteed every year to chart high and sell well. She's firmly in her Christmas bag and you know what I can't blame her. I'd rather she focus on maintaining her legacy (the Music Box reissue is exquisite) than releasing new music when she can't come up with anything new to do or say.

I feel like people do no care about Mariah Carey as an artist anymore. They use AIWFCIY every year around christmas time and it charts at #1 for several weeks, which is very impressive but to me (and I could be wrong), it really feels like no one would care about new music. I also doubt Mariah wants an actual comeback. She has done many things and her career is behind her now.

This. She's already had enough comebacks :rip:

I'm satisfied with any new high quality music. Albums by 55 year olds don't smash.

If she offers up another Butterfly or Emancipation, absolutely. I think she's over all of the hustling, though, to properly setup and maintain a proper "comeback."

If Caution didn't do that and that's like one of her best albums... then I don't think so

Mariah is not having another hit unless she does a hook on a Drake song or something.

I think she has stayed amazingly relevant and uses the internet better than almost anyone from the digital native generation. She knows exactly who she is.

I think Drake or the Weeknd would be huge and perfect collabs for her or Bruno Mars.

Mariah doesnt need it. Christmas keeps her relevant in the public imagination and shes even had a couple of tiktok hits now. Her recurrent streams are good and overall I feel she gets the credit she deserves as a legend.

In contrast, I would like to see a comeback for Janet as I feel her discography and legacy is not as known as it could/should be. Shes never had her true redemption from the superbowl even tho she did nothing wrong. Even the pop music gays dont know Janet. i think half of them would probably love her if they did

I agree with this 100%

She honestly doesn't need one.
