Topaz Posted September 20, 2023 Posted September 20, 2023 I thought about Madonna and Cher having a comeback later in their career musically and Celine touring wise and feel like Mariah has one more smash era in her where she can have a huge first single follow by a string of mid-level successful singles. The music just has to be good a little different than what she normally does. I think the second album should follow a Touch My Body kind of hit followed by whatever music just being whatever and that would be a perfect way to end of her 50's imo.
Mr. Mendes Posted September 20, 2023 Posted September 20, 2023 (edited) I'd like to see her have another big era for the pure novelty, but...I mean she kinda already got her Madonna comeback moment and the odds of it happening again are low. Emancipation was to her career what Confessions was to Madonna's. The difference is Mariah managed to get two successful singles after the Emancipation era was over, which really was more than I think anyone expected. She'll never have a resurgence in touring because she was never known as a touring artist to begin with. But honestly, I don't that she needs a big comeback at this point. It's not like she or Madonna or Celine or anyone at their stature has anything to prove anymore. There's nothing wrong with where they all are now. No amount of "comeback" eras are going to add to what already are some of the most robust and respected legacies in music history. Their place is already locked. I agree with she already got her comeback, but she was pretty lowkey in the 10's followed by Christmas smashing for her so I'd love for her to have an era of new original music smashing. You're right with Touch My Body and Obsessed. I'm surprised Obsessed smashed so hard considering that was almost 20 years into her career. Love that last paragraph. 1
ultraviolence.xx Posted September 20, 2023 Posted September 20, 2023 yes. I know she's got another Caution in her
Power love Posted September 20, 2023 Posted September 20, 2023 Didn’t she already have one with the Christmas song smashing and the TV special she had with Ariana. I think she’s fine, i highly doubt she even wants a big era again that comes with a lot. She just got a hit with Latto as well. It’s actually Celine or Toni i would like to see have some kind of commercial success again
JustLikeHoney Posted September 20, 2023 Posted September 20, 2023 Nah... I prefer Janet has a comeback or No Doubt.
Finite Posted September 20, 2023 Posted September 20, 2023 It’s possible! Lets not forget #Beautiful peaked at 15 on the Billboard Hot 100 1
awong918 Posted September 20, 2023 Posted September 20, 2023 She makes a comeback every year during Christmas 1 1 1
LadyDiana Posted September 20, 2023 Posted September 20, 2023 She doesnt really need it. I wish she keeps releasing new stuff, every now and then, stuff like caution album, quality, and rereleasing her old material. Take care of her legacy. Christmas comes and goes, so she has her big moment locked every december

It’s sad to say but she could pass in the not so distant future because of her condition. If you think Mariah doesn’t want a big era what makes you think Celine does or even could?
DemDam92 Posted September 20, 2023 Posted September 20, 2023 She doesn’t care. She has a #1 literally every year and she can always sell out some Christmas Shows. I wish she’d release a new album again with some strong collaborations but I feel like she is enjoying live + having insecurities performing live.
James_Dean Posted September 20, 2023 Posted September 20, 2023 I don't think it's something she cares for tbh... and that makes me sad.
Harrier Posted September 20, 2023 Posted September 20, 2023 Mariah doesnt need it. Christmas keeps her relevant in the public imagination and shes even had a couple of tiktok hits now. Her recurrent streams are good and overall I feel she gets the credit she deserves as a legend. In contrast, I would like to see a comeback for Janet as I feel her discography and legacy is not as known as it could/should be. Shes never had her true redemption from the superbowl even tho she did nothing wrong. Even the pop music gays dont know Janet. i think half of them would probably love her if they did 1
suneclipse121 Posted September 20, 2023 Posted September 20, 2023 It would be a nice little victory lap but she has nothing left to prove.
JustHoran Posted September 20, 2023 Posted September 20, 2023 She doesn't need a comeback. Mariah Carey will always be relevent and successful. However, she could always get another hit at some point. Never count her out but she definitely doesn't need a hit anymore. She's relevent and a legend and her Christmas song is a smash every year.

She already had her massive comeback with Emancipation, and she is older now and enjoying her life. She doesn't need to have a smash era again She's Mariah Carey.

This is so sad but true. I don't think we will get another Celine era at all. I sadly think she's done. I wish her the best, she's a legend.
Trash Posted September 20, 2023 Posted September 20, 2023 I would love for her to get more #1s than The Beatles, but at this point she doesn't need to do anything else other than enjoy her wealth. The rarities was such a cute gift, she can release whatever she wants, whenever she wants. I'm sure that rock album is coming sooner or later too.

Mandalay Posted September 20, 2023 Posted September 20, 2023 Check her rendition of 'My Prayer' out. I forgot we used to live through her dominance. OT: She deserves one.
Alldeezy Posted September 20, 2023 Posted September 20, 2023 she needs to come back with a non related Christmas music yes
