People always love to create fake scenarios to downplay Doja's success. "If Tik Tok didn't exist..." but it does, and it's a hit there and it helped the song go #1 around the world, deal with it.

I honestly chuckle when ppl post that excuse now.  It’s like saying

“…if MTV/TRL didn’t exist” in the 90s

“…if YT didn’t exist” in the 00s.

:skull:

Like…?  It’s a promo avenue just like anything else?

it’s also impressive given she herself barely wants to participate in TT promo.  These trends take off organically, while her peers start challenges themselves to get their songs off the ground.  :rip:

After being wrongfully "cancelled" she came back and got a smash hit number 1 song. She's doing just fine. And the other singles are ALL phenomenal, so she's coming for acclaim too.

Attention flopped

PTTR smashed

The other two aren’t really valid examples

I'd be more worried if she was releasing the commercial sounding stuff like Gun and Agora and those were flopping. Seems like they've been strategic with these single releases - each one is giving a completely different vibe and have served their purpose for the most part to promote the album. The main single is smashing which is the most important thing but from the snippets I've heard, there's definitely other commercial friendly songs with "hit" potential on the album, only 1 of them has been released so far (PTTR).

PTTR is the biggest song in the world right now. Trouble of what exactly? Of the album getting the Flowers / Endless Summer Vacation treatment? Doja is too invested in her career (unlike miss vacation girl) for that to happen.

Doja Cat is one of the artist that i dislike the most. Idk i just dislike her SO MUCH it makes me wonder why sometimes...

And even so - realistaclly speaking- she's far away from being in trouble, her album will be a smash.

Even if the other 3 songs were not sent to radio as official singles, they all got a video and if their streams are indicative of how the album will perform, she’ll be lucky to get a top 5 debut. If it weren’t for tik tok PTTR would be struggling just the same. KMM was a hit out the gate and wasn’t reliant on TikTok. IJS

'if it weren't for tik tok' okay but it's 2023 and tiktok is the most used social media platform. the single is an instant hit, idk why you feel the need to downplay it's success with these 'bbb-but tiktok!!1!' comments

I feel like Demons and Attention still did OKAY-ish numbers for promo singles

but anyone saying this album isnt giving off ESV vibes out the gate is lying to themselves.

Doja got that smash hit with PTTR and that's all she needs, and I can see Agora Hills being another smash based on the snippet

If TikTok didn't exist

If sky wasn't blue

If earplugs weren't invented

There is always something

Thing about miss Doja she can throw on a blonde wig and a pop single and everyone would be gagging and streaming

she can do it whenever she wants a stream of radio hits

If I were them, I'd wait to make these type of threads. Lol once this album is out, the world will do its job.

I mean she already has a smash, if she gets another moderate hit the era will already be on par with Hot Pink

Posted

I’d be surprised if Scarlet is as successful as Planet Her simply because the material is more experimental and PTTR is more akin to her already established sound.

I don’t think she’s in trouble but I think this album will underperformed for her own, very high, standards. That’s not a problem though because PTTR proves she can still easily nab a hit.

Waiting For Agora HIlls & Gun & Wet V.:rip:

She's fine. PTTR alone saved this era, it's getting 8M streams a day. The other songs are doing numbers I would expect. The other 3 songs are not what I'd call exactly easily palatable, lol.

Honestly considering how badly I expected this era to do pre-PTTR I am pretty impressed :rip:
