Where to begin, it was so much to take in. Every song was different from the next and yet it all felt very cohesive. I was not expecting Dear Ben 2 to be a ******* knockout song! The chorus of Rebound is addictive. This Time Around has such a great vibe. And the vocals on Broken Like Me are some of the best of her career.

I loved the whole umbrella routine. It is very Broadway, I like that she is experimenting from what she usually does. The outfits were great as well. I wasn’t expecting this big of a production. I missed seeing her in her element.

My review;

The production of the new music and the show was ON POINT! Loved it. My favorite was Hearts and Flowers and Rebound. 

A lot of choreography, I expected slow songs but there was a lot of dancing and midtempo/uptempo songs. Parris did an amazing work with choreo. 

The lyrics, from what I got (my first language is not English) were a little bit repetitive in the chorus, but the production and sound is awesome and cohesive.

Broken like me gave me a vibe of Let It Be Me with the Spanish guitar. I also liked Cant Get Enough.

Can’t get enough gave me vibes of Hold It Don’t Drop it a little bit, at least the funky performance. It had like a mash up with MJ’s Wanna Be Starting Something but I guess that was just for the show.

In general it sounded classic but modern at the same time.

No release date yet. The new merch on her website will be sent on November 10, so I guess around that date.

I wanted Still and Loving You but it made sense she did JFTB and AIH since she must have some hits for a streaming/TV special.

 

Okay, so a bit of my thoughts. 

She opened with Hearts & Flowers, which sounded like Same Girl (in terms of how she attacked the song). There’s a part where she goes “cuz I’m still….” And you’re supposed to say Jenny from the Block! Etc etc loved it. 

After that she performed Rebound. The chorus for it is repetitive but still sounds different from what’s she’s done? 

She meshed Dear Ben part 1&2. Dear Ben pt2 is not at all what’s you’d expect compared to Dear Ben. 

Aside from the oldies, I really enjoyed Broken like me. She told us a story about her having to be real with herself and knowing that’s she not perfect or something? Can’t remember the lyrics (I was two red wines down)…but I had to wear my sunglasses because the lights were so bright. I loved this song. Not in terms of vocals but I feel like this could be her “Beautiful”. It was so emotional, beautifully sung & didn’t have those high notes y’all try to drag her for. It was perfect for her voice. 

Midnight trip to Vegas (I know some of yall were cringing at the ring ring but it’s not like marry me with its “I need a king, king, king…” it felt like it was more of an after thought (the second ring)

What else. Can’t Get Enough is also a gold one. I think this is her first single.

It was so good. Like, if you’re basing it off the wedding video then you’re gonna be surprised when you hear it. It was def my fav. 

Anyway, now I’m at airport so I’ll let yall know if I remember anything else!

 

The JT Cry Me A River sample was used at the end of This is Me Now..I didn’t hear it throughout the song? Maybe I missed it? 

It was very conversational type lyrics to me? Like some where he telling a story and then it would go into the chorus. I admit that Rebound was the biggest stand out because she does say “Rebound, Rebound, rebound…(something?) rebound, rebound, rehehehehbound (can’t type out how she sings it) 

As far as music, it’s def a departure from TIMT. Like, if I could say it reminded me an album I wouldn’t be able to think of one? It felt different but somewhat similar to her. I think TIMT is her most cohesive album and this sounds cohesive but that’s about it in terms of similarities.

 

 

I'm pretty sure Cry Me A River was used on one of the songs yes! I forget which one (today was a crazy blur!) but I think it was in the beginning few bars of one of them. 

Rebound rebound rebound has been stuck in my head but probably because she did it twice and it was the last one before she went off stage. 

The look was mostly bodysuits and sheer pants/jackets, I'd say similar to what we're used to? She looked unbelievably gorgeous and her body is insane! 

No country influences... I think she just digs the hat. Didn't get to meet her, didn't think to go wait for her to leave but other fans did.

 

 

She didn’t wear anything cowboy related. She had her signature typical beautiful flowy brown hair, similar to her Vegas residency.

If I remember correctly she starts off wearing a black leather corset with a gold sequin/rhinestone detail on it. Underneath is a white lace catsuit.

Throughout the show she changes a few times. For Broken Like Me she has a beautiful long black ruffled mesh cape. She wore a lot of black today. Her body looks insane. Her waist was so tiny, and ass was phat! 

For Jenny From The Block she wears her signature baseball sequin black cap. Her boots. And the baggy sweatpants. Her entire ensemble is a cream mesh color.

Rebound is the most repetitive of all the songs so that’s the one I would say is the easiest to stick in your head and sing along. 

I’ll try to think of more to share. 

She performed the show once. Then after it was done we were told by Benny that they wanted to film the beginning all over. So they setup the stage for like 20 minutes and we watched her perform the beginning two songs again. But otherwise that was the only re-do she did.
