You’re a stan. Try to look outside of that view and see how this might get annoying after awhile. I think the narrative around her has become increasingly hyperbolic. The press and commentators can’t just say she is a good songwriter who has a passionate fanbase, they have to call her the Greatest American Storyteller, The Beatles of 2023, and the best performer since Michael Jackson. Like why can’t she just be Taylor Swift, a girl who makes some cute pop songs?

There's literally not a single article comparing her to the Beatles or MJ :deadbanana2:

It's all us fans claiming things.

And she really is, thank you:cm: A girl who makes some cute pop songs will never have her level of career, she is very special and you’re just denying her talent because you don’t like her. Your label can help you debuted with a smash era, some tricks and gimmicks might let you last 3 albums, but only people with true talent can be the biggest artist in the world 17 years into their career. BTW, no one cares about those “PR machine” things in real life and that’s never a reason why she is successful, GP only cares about the music

Ask your girls to release music then

Again you Swifties repeat this narrative ad nauseam to silence any criticism. We are just coming out of over 15 years of MCU dominance and essentially 20 years of prominence of the superhero genre. Were Marvel movies so much better than everything else? Maybe, or maybe they just captured the zeitgeist due to a combination of factors and then flooded the market to the point of total saturation.

On ATRL, yes.

IRL, no. She's virtually unknown here.

Posted

I mean i can easily avoid her on my social media timeline and can avoid any Taylor's related threads in here

So I don't necessarily feel that at all lol

Posted

I only see any news about her on here tbh. Last time I heard someone mention her in real life was the '09 VMA and '16 phone call incident.

Posted

YES!!! I just need a fxcking break... like if she could just take a year off it'd be much appreciated. :chick1:

Why would you be tired? I still haven’t heard Antihero or saw the video, nor did a I heard the album, you can avoid her easily, she was more prominent doing the 1983 era, I couldn’t help the temptation to watch the bad blood video.

if y'all think it's bad now... 1989 tv is coming

No, I was shook when I suddenly saw her in the audience yesterday together with Ice. Last night for some time felt like a time travel back to 2010

Again, you OTH hate her so you completely ignore the history of music industry. Comparing a film with an artist is simply nonsense. Why don’t we use the true artists as examples? So every music legend who used to dominate the world like The Beatles, Madonna or MJ are all great and talent, only Taylor Swift is “nothing special” and talentless?

No one is silencing the criticism. You can say “I never get her appeal” and that’s totally okey. Now you’re just claiming her talentless and saying she is nothing special than any other B-lister pop girls but can’t explain why she is so big (or using some ridiculous excuses, like her “PR machine”:rip:). If she truly is, why other pop girls can’t have half of her achievements? In the end, it’s you can’t prove your point, not us.

You talk about her more than any Swiftie on this site, in every thread about her. Genuine question, why would you do that if you’re tired of her?

no

also when i log off atrl i barely hear about her

No, she is serving peak MPG with the massive streams, sales and tour + media coverage, awards, tabloids. It's fascinating to watch

@GraceRandolph I sympathize with how you probably feel about things related to her right now. I can even understand how frequent hyperbolic praises for her can become a nuisance, you’re right: why does she need to be hailed as THE greatest, or the biggest, or the best? But your problem lies beyond Taylor or music in general. Psychologically, humans respond more to hyperbole. It’s unfortunate but it’s true. It’s why we have sensationalized headlines — they capture the readers attention and force you to consume the content. That’s all that’s happening here. What you think is Taylor’s PR machine is really just a bunch of independent reporting firms trying to HOG as much of the public’s attention as they can by printing whatever fluff piece they feel will capture the consumers attention. In a way, Tree almost doesn’t have to do anything — all of these publications do her job for her. By nature of being the biggest name in music, writing positive things about her generates more traffic and thus more revenue. It’s a self serving machine that Taylor, Tree, and their team in general honestly don’t even reap the financial benefits of. These companies get free engagement off of her name alone, but now you’re stuck thinking it’s Taylor’s team paying for PR pieces when it’s just independent journalists trying to make a living by writing about something that’s guaranteed to give them income.

Sorry if my thoughts are a bit scattered or incoherent, I’m not what you’d call sober right now lol

I am interested in pop culture. I follow box office and they are talking about her now, I watch chart recaps and she gets discussed, her relationships are discussed to death in celeb gossip spaces, when I post about Gaga I get Swifties trying to shade her, or Britney/Xtina fans posing as TS fans. It’s gotten to be way too much. Plus the re-recordings are only interesting to those who are at least casual, if not die hard fans.

Well, suck to be you then :ahh:

Y’all keep saying this, but TS is probably the blandest female act to dominate the pop game. :deadbanana:

She’s not bland, she’d just rather be known for her musical output than gimmicks or stunts which is what killed the interest in other girlies for the GP

Marvel movies have never really gotten any critical acclaim, Taylor does though. Marvel movies have always been popcorn blockbusters but that’s about it, Taylor is known as an albums artist because the music is good. She hasn’t had a non acclaimed album since lover

her symbolism and easter eggs, as well as Taylor's Version announcements and revisiting old tracks that i grew up listening to is what's exciting

why would i be excited about someone breaking a record :rip:

That **** is only exciting to her fans. Why would any non-stan care about an Easter egg?
