Nido Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 Born Again & Dirty Things are great examples of someone who got just the right tone to pull off sultry-vocal types of songs. The way she went from the fun & trashy **** Pop sound to the demure and sensual sound on this one and nailed both effortlessly 1
zasderfght Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 Whether something is an album, mixtape, or compilation is your choice of semantics. Instead, I'm calling these "projects," since that label applies to any body of work that can't be readily labeled as an album. I think Problematique is okay. I prefer it to Feed the Beast because of Je T'Adore, All She Wants, Born Again, and Deeper. Even the weaker tracks like Confession (sorry, Kim fans!) and Love Ya Leave Ya are better than songs like Feed the Beast, Thousand Pieces, Bait, Coconuts, and Castle in the Sky. My favorite Kim project has actually been Clarity, even though most Kim fans hate that album. Say what you will, but the first half of that album SLAPS. Clarity, Icy, Got My Number, Sweet Spot, Personal Hell, and Do Me are immaculately produced. I also love Era 1 songs like I Don't Want it At All, Heart to Break, All the Time, and Malibu. I loved There Will Be Blood from Turn Off the Light. But yeah, Feed the Beast and Problematique, imo, are not representative of her best work. Even S-Pop, which I didn't care for, at least had some fun, and there was an edge to those songs. Both FTB and Problematique feel safe in comparison, which isn't exactly a bad thing. Remember, we should be welcoming various opinions/viewpoints, as long as it's not insulting the artist personally.

Not many pop girls out there could switch so easily between tones, vibes etc. It’s what has always set her apart IMO, let alone the fact she is a SINGER capable of delivering amazing live vocals. 2
Von Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 (edited) Kinda sad Ur Turn to Cry isn’t on here, that was probably one I played the most from the leaks, also Future Starts Now should’ve been the first track tbh edit: also, Born Again could be a HIT if they pushed it properly Edited September 19, 2023 by Von
theweekend Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 splitting the released and leaked versions and we have AN ALBUM

That surprises me, since it’s her best album! I find myself going back to it more than I do even to Era 1, which says a lot since I think Heart To Break and Hillside Boys are two of the best pop songs of all time. Clarity is consistent almost all the way through IMO, and Do Me has maybe the best production in her discography to this day. It’s just such an easy album to put on repeat. 1
Mke1979 Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 My favorite project from her is TOTL vol 1!

The amount of range she has going from "I got a bag in my bag" to all that moaning in the Born Again bridge. Kim you will always be FAMOUS 1
MusicIsMyMaster Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 Enough time has passed Feed The Beast > Problematique 4
Carlitos Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 Dirty Things, Deeper and Born Again are my holy trinity

popularmoonlight Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 Just goes on to prove labels know nothing because had this been released instead of FTB, her audience would've grown bigger and her tour wouldn't be at the state it is right now. 1

Zkn Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 Honestly, liked the album at first listen waaaay more than FTB, this could have been huge with the original songs intended for It. So great to have the album out and being able to listen to It legally Is it doing something on charts??

There was no realistic chance for her to be a Dua Lipa or Ariana Grande so stripping her of her personality and forcing her into releasing auto pilot music I whole heartedly agree with everything you said here. I’ve said the same things for the past year. Kim already had a decent crafted vision of herself as an artist along with a small fanbase, and the label decided to manage her as if she was a brand new artist. Throwing everything at the wall, random songs, random collabs. BUT, I don’t think it’s solely the label’s doing. I agree that they’re the main ones to blame for how her career is going, but I also think Kim wanted this. Not the career going downhill part obviously, but she wanted all the push, budget, opportunities. Which she’s had plenty off, it’s just mismanaged. 2 2
Lady Claire Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 I’m not complaining but this was just a fanservice release, more than anything Her website layout remains FTB-stylized, no merch, the lyric videos sans TMLAH were so damn lazy, no physicals (but we expected that). I am completely happy that we finally got this but Miss Problématique deserved more love The vinyls will be a slay though. Months ago she said she was working on 2 of them, one was FTB for sure but i wonder if the 2nd one was Slvt Pop or Problématique 1
GardenPanty Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 this album was made a year before she got signed so I don’t get why people are criticizing this project saying “the label ruined her!!”
thatsmydemi Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 Omg I had no idea this was released. Let me listen

And even if someone thinks it’s supbar or it doesn’t have the bangers she used to have, it 100% feels like the Kim Petras we’ve always adored: pure pop, full of guilty pleasures, influenced by the music she used to grow up with and loved. 2
thatsmydemi Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 Something About U Deeper Dirty Things I need a whole album with songs like these

I think that's the reason I dont like it as much as Feed The Beast. Its very 2020 sounding, Future Nostalgia, Say So vibes from start to end. Its a little redundant in todays market. Obviously its still so fun and great to boogie down too. But no song comes close to "Uhoh" , "Claw" , "King of Hearts" , "Minute" , "Hit it From The Back" "Castle In The Sky" , "Alone"
