Infernal Paradise Posted September 29, 2023 Posted September 29, 2023 Exclaim! Quote It's more or less a duet between the two vocalists, but Gaga is clearly channelling some Merry Clayton-esque, background-singer-who-steals-the-show bravura in her wailing delivery. It's a pretty solid song for a band in their sixth decade! Gaga adds some real electricity to the thing, and you just know she had fun in that studio trading "oh yeahs" with Jagger.
glacier76 Posted September 29, 2023 Posted September 29, 2023 I am in love with this song. Imagine this song performed live?!?!? Stevie, Stones and Gaga on a Grammy stage? For the entire 7 minutes? Incredible. 2

SinnerCity Posted September 29, 2023 Posted September 29, 2023 I like the song, it's on-brand for The Rolling Stones and an excellent addition to Gaga's versatile discography. I understand why people wouldn't like it but to be fair, this is something that Gaga wanted to do for her love of music. I take these steps if it means that Gaga will give us another album with her full creative vision executed. 1

Infernal Paradise Posted September 29, 2023 Posted September 29, 2023 (edited) The Times Sweet Sounds of Heaven review — a jam session for the gods ★★★★★ 5/5 Quote Seven minutes of rapturous gospel rock, Sweet Sounds of Heaven sounds like a band at the peak of a jam session for the gods: loosened up, euphoric and effortlessly bouncing off each other. And what a band it is. Lady Gaga holds her own against a rejuvenated Mick Jagger on vocals, Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood turn the clock back to their pomp, Steve Jordan impressively replaces Charlie Watts on drums and a certain Stevie Wonder plays sublime piano, Fender Rhodes and Moog synth. Quote The two special guests have history with the Stones: Wonder toured with them in 1972 and Gaga joined the band on stage in 2012. Both figure prominently on the ecstatic finale: Gaga giving a little laugh before launching into a grandstanding vocal freakout and Wonder cued by Jagger’s “play me something, Stevie” into a twinkle-fingered piano solo...this is the best thing he, the Stones and Gaga have been involved with for a long time. TrueBlood Posted September 29, 2023 Posted September 29, 2023 This song is not my cup of tea, but I wouldn't mind Gaga going in this direction next AT ALL.
Green Posted September 29, 2023 Posted September 29, 2023 This is great I need this to chart on the Hot 100. It would be the first Rolling Stones song to chart since 2003
