Asscatchem Posted September 2, 2023 Posted September 2, 2023 (edited) now that its confirmed taylor receives a monthly royalty check in perpetuity totaling 50% of deja vu's revenue, what is the atrl consensus of that #? Edited September 2, 2023 by Asscatchem 3
Jude Posted September 2, 2023 Posted September 2, 2023 (edited) I personally don't think so but Olivia gave that 50% to them as her initiative so we should respect her decision for that. Edited September 3, 2023 by Jude 1 1
Popular Post Sheep Posted September 2, 2023 Popular Post Posted September 2, 2023 (edited) Anybody who votes yes needs to realize that Taylor's earnings don't contribute a single cent to your bank accounts. These extremely predatory deals are made because losing MOST of the money on a song is still preferable to litigation which can involve forcing the song to be taken down while the courts reach a decision. hawx23 Posted September 2, 2023 Posted September 2, 2023 (edited) So, either: 1. Taylor can't reject the co-write credit (for whatever reason). Or, 2. She can reject the credit, but is choosing not to. Either way, a line from a bridge is not worth 50%. Edited September 2, 2023 by hawx23
magazine Posted September 2, 2023 Posted September 2, 2023 No, the song isn't good. She should've asked 50% of G4U or Brutal 1 5
punisher Posted September 2, 2023 Posted September 2, 2023 St Vincent needs to afford her rent somehow 1
Clauss Posted September 2, 2023 Posted September 2, 2023 Its 50% between the 3. And yes, if someone uses your art and not even acknowledges credit, you can even go to trial. She got it cheap 2 9
Popular Post DatChickDoe Posted September 2, 2023 Popular Post Posted September 2, 2023 Nope. Taylor is a Billionaire and it is super tacky she is doing this. 23 3
Popular Post Raver Posted September 2, 2023 Popular Post Posted September 2, 2023 NOPE! And neither does Misery Business. 23 1
Rep2000 Posted September 2, 2023 Posted September 2, 2023 (edited) The same as should Paramore have 50% of G4U? Olivia's team was over-compensating imo. Edited September 3, 2023 by Rep2000 1 1
liam13 Posted September 2, 2023 Posted September 2, 2023 yes, thats how many olivias team thought she deserve
Magdalene Posted September 2, 2023 Posted September 2, 2023 no but honestly I feel like majority blame should go to her old management for kinda ******* her over with their lack of negotiation skills
Popular Post By the Water Posted September 2, 2023 Popular Post Posted September 2, 2023 No. She deserves 50% of all of Olivia's earnings 4 13 2
TaggedGalaxy Posted September 2, 2023 Posted September 2, 2023 Next time Olive knows not to steal 1 1
hawx23 Posted September 2, 2023 Posted September 2, 2023 Just now, By the Water said: No. She deserves 50% of all of Olivia's earnings Which Tay song does jealousy jealousy sound like? 2
Badgalbriel Posted September 2, 2023 Posted September 2, 2023 Nope, but this is what Olivia's team decided to hand out to avoid controversy.
Kodak Energy Posted September 2, 2023 Posted September 2, 2023 I don’t understand why ATRL is so angry about Taylor getting half of deja vu but doesn’t seem to care about Paramore getting G4U, Ariana having to give away 90% of 7 rings, Stevie Nicks getting 50% of bootylicious and so on. Yes it’s a lot, the royalty rates for samples are ridiculous but it’s a systemic problem in the music industry not a problem with Taylor Swift. 10
Wolf Alice Posted September 2, 2023 Posted September 2, 2023 Good thing real world doesn't work on atrl's feelings and the title is factually wrong because she's receiving 22.5% 4
Cruel Summer Posted September 2, 2023 Posted September 2, 2023 She doesn’t deserve 50%, and thankfully she doesn’t receive 50%. She, Jack, and Annie together get 50% combined. 2 1

Just a Gay on ATRL Posted September 2, 2023 Posted September 2, 2023 Me to ATRL for the next week and a half after Olivia drops GUTS, when people keep making threads about this issue neither girl has or will address directly for the time being:
BtDecember Posted September 2, 2023 Posted September 2, 2023 Did Taylor get 50% of Taylor PLUS Jack and St. Vincent get 50%? Olivia thinks that Taylor and the other Cruel Summer writers deserve the said portion and I agree with her. Understandably, Olivia HERSELF gave the credits to Taylor/Jack/St. Vincent WITHOUT the trio asking for it.

Thankfully, Taylor NEVER asked for it and that 50% of songwriting credit that Olivia HERSELF "gave out" is divided among Taylor, Jack Antonoff, and St. Vincent. Hopefully you understand that. 3
