Taylor has made around 8M units in US and around 23M WW in 2022. So her American units only compromise 35% of her overall 2022 units.

 

However:

 

Around 75% of her pure sales in 2022 come from US. 

Most of her Apple Music streams, probably, come from US.

Most of Amazon Music streams are from US. (65% of all Amazon Users are from US and considering Taylor is anomaly huge in US that would mean nearly 80% of her streams in Amazon are from US)

40% of her Spotify streams are from US. (probably around the half if include only the premium ones)

 

And there is the fact more than half of her streaming album units in Chartmasters are not from Spotify. The Youtube excuse does not work because most of VEVO views are old and have low value compared to Amazon, Apple, Spotify etc.

 

 

 

P.S: I am not an OTH and will happily admit she's the 5th most successful artist but there is definitely something fishy about those numbers and it applies to other artists too.

To begin with, there is no way to know how many units an artist has sold worldwide because such chart does not exist and because there is not an universal counting method. Where did you get the 23M number?

I think right now she has also like 6-7 albums in the Uk top 20, the second western market in the world . The terms global consumption is assuming a new meaning.

Also, Spotify and Amazon are not the only streaming services available, most of them do not even report sales 

 

Chartmasters is not a reliable source because it is impossible to track worldwide sales, what we do know is impact and what you see proves that she’s a phenomenon

This was already explained to by using official statistics issued by the IFPI & UMG, the biggest label group in music: Over half of her streaming units are not from Spotify… because Spotify only has an overall streams share of 30-40%. Only 38% of Taylor's streams are from Spotify:

Chartmasters is just an unofficial guess. Those chart Twitter accounts are all mostly fake. You have to add up their international certified units to find out their international units.

First of all we can check streams on Spotify that easily match this ratio.

112M global & 40M US that’s around 35%, the same percentage you got based on units.

 

Based on HITSDD report we also know she has 23M global streams & 9B US streams, again 39%~.

Also this is 2023 stats which probably have US having a bigger boost than the rest of the world considering she was currently touring there. Therefore is not crazy to assume her % was smaller before to complete the gap on album sales that clearly the US win at.

 

And even then sales gap is not that much US carried. Here we can see Midnights sold 3M WW with over 1B streams, but we know it had 550M streams in US and 1.1M album sales totaling 1.5M units, so best case scenario it had other 550M out of the US which would mean it needs also 1.1M sales to get the remaining 1.5M units.

Taylor had 14 Billion Spotify streams in 2022. Chartmasters roughly credits it by the margin of 1.5 for every artist in his formula, before dividing them by 1500 to get album equivalent units.

 

You say 60% of her Spotify streams are from outside the USA. 8.5 billion international Spotify streams= 12.75 Million CSPC. 8+12.75= 20.75 CSPC. The remaining units to 23 Million are international pure sales and streams converted to album units from China/Japan/South Korea services.

Taylor is truly global, which may be difficult for some people to understand. She really dominates all of the Asian continent that happens to be the most populated continent on Earth. Most of the world doesn't even use Spotify or AM but their own local streaming platforms.
