you should look more to the numbers or things like Halloween remake etc.. horrors will have an appeal to young people but to oldest too cause they are old sagas. First halloween sequel opened to 76M.

Girl, this is not at all comparable to Halloween 2018, that movies hype was through the roof and saw the return of the central heroine Jamie Lee Curtis. Also: it was a good movie. The new Exorcist looks pretty bad. And while the original Exorcist is an iconic piece of cinema, its place in the zeitgeist is not the same as Halloween. There are a million demon/exorcism movies to watch instead. There is only one franchise with Michael Myers.

Plus exorcist is a bigger and more recognized icon can Taylor worldwide  so if the film ends up with good critic scores for a horror film and word of mouth, it will easily take the top spot given it's advantage of having way more showtimes.

But it's not gonna work. The new Exorcist movie looks like it's gonna suck ass, and i'm a massive horror fan. Jason is desperately trying to manufacture a Barbenheimer but i don't see people falling for it if it's not organic.

I wanted to see it in IMAX but the showings were all sold out when I tried first thing this morning after Her tweet went out  I have an opening day ticket at least, but hopefully they add more IMAX showings.

I believe they will! This is actually going to be a standard theatrical release meaning she has a deal where it stays in theaters for minimum of 4 weeks and can stay as long as 26 weeks in theaters. 

 

This is actually selling really really well nationwide right now based on some box office forums i visit. Swiftmania is insane.

Please tell me Taylor and her team will take FULL advantage of it and let the movie be as big as it can be, it'd dumb of them not to. This movie is gonna be a massive phenomenon just like the tour itself is.

To be honest, I don’t think anyone knows how to process the massive sales this is having currently. It’s currently selling similar to  Spider-man movie no way home….But it’s tough to say how front loaded this will be or not as this could perform like a family movie rather than your typical concert movie given so many people couldn’t get tickets for their kids whether they were too expensive or simply couldn’t get any so this is a great alternative.

 

But right now her team has a lot of leverage in terms of getting this into more theaters and getting more screens based on how well it’s selling. She is making it a weekend exclusive which I think will actually help her sales and make it feel more like an event.

 

Lets see how it sells in the next 24 hours and throughout the weekend
