@Communion and @SecretSecret thank you for putting it so well; I just hope it gives people who think Roisin has a “sensible” take reason to pause and think on why they have that base, kneejerk reaction when it comes to trans youth.

Thank you as well!  I was gagged when you all suddenly started with the medical jargon, I'm a humanities girl :thing:

I was really excited about the release of Hit Parade, and I've been discovering her discography and loving it these past few months, so this has really pissed me off.

She isn’t British! That’s why this is so sad!

Oh my god, I forgot she’s Irish! My apologies. I doubt the transphobia is any better in Ireland, though.

very disappointing. especially from a gay icon, the uk's gone mad with transphobia.

Anyone who supports the use of drugs to block the natural puberty of a child is disgusting and will be on the wrong side of history.

You simply cannot allow a child to make such a life altering decision. There are other ways to support trans children while preventing them from making irreversible decisions until their brains are developed enough to do so.

The mob mentality to cry "tRaNsPhObIa" whenever a celeb states a completely rational take on protecting children is ridiculous.

She is an outspoken LGBT advocate who undoubtedly supports the trans community. Just because all of her views don't align with the most extreme of all pro-trans views does not make her a transphobe.

As a whole, it is generally much better in Ireland… We have self ID and our politicians don’t make transphobic jokes for point-scoring.

However, Róisín has lived in London most of her life at this point.

This really sucks. No one talks about “Big Pharma” when millions of girls go on birth control with HORMONES or balding men control their loss of hair with HORMONES.

But when trans kids need hormone therapy to prevent a forced puberty… Big pharma, tinfoil hat etc.

1. going on puberty blockers does not mean you won't go through puberty, it just slows down and delays the process precisely so that you can make the decision whether or not to fully transition later on

2. so children can't consent to life-altering changes, right... what do you think puberty is? so the same child that can't consent to puberty blockers can at the same time be fine with puberty? make it make sense!

This would be meaningful if Roisin's comment wasn't about GnRH agonists that are largely prescribed to cis children experiencing precocious puberty around the ages of 7-9.

We're only talking about HRT because some members are seemingly DEEPLY CONCERNED about trans youth's healthcare yet apparently don't know that the temporary delay of puberty of puberty and the triggering of a different kind of puberty through cross-sex hormones are two entirely different things.

Let alone that the usage of GnRH agonists are used *as a compromise* because there is red-tape  over HRT.

"You shouldn't delay the puberty process!" and "Letting trans people experience a puberty that does not align with their birth sex should be delayed until they're an adult" are contradictory statements.

If the post is recent, what exactly would she say? :rip:

Well we don't know that yet and still, this comment reads to me as ignorance rather than disdain for trans people. so hopefully she'll take some time to educate herself on a subject matter :emofish:

Not just minutes after I ordered her merch lmao :jonny3:

Aren’t people jumping to conclusions a little early, by the way? That tweet barely even qualifies as a screenshot let alone as ‘proof’. Though even if it’s legit, that comment seems more uneducated to me than transphobic. Which is still unfortunate considering how respected she is in the LGBTQIA+ community, but some of the comments on her Instagram calling for her eternal ban from queer spaces is a ‘little’ too much :skull:

I never liked that hag anyways, she can **** off and gays should stop giving her money

What is it about middle-aged white women that make them so susceptible to anti-trans propaganda? :rip: Especially wealthy, middle-aged white women. :rip:

Some of you guys want to hide behind the idea that what she is saying is "sensible". If you are only interpreting this on a surface level, then sure, maybe it sounds sensible. But with a few moments of critical thought, this line of thinking means forcing thousands upon thousands of children to live a life that makes them miserable so you feel more comfortable. This line of thinking centers your feelings and thoughts over the mental well-being of children. You are not the center of the world.

ATRL being the place where truth-seekers bravely speak for silent causes: force toddlers with precocious puberty to go through it! :clap3:Obviously anything occurring naturally within the human body is inherently healthy. :clap3:

6 year old boys with mustaches? 5 year old girls with developed breasts? I'm sick of big pharma trying to poison the natural way the human body grows! Speak truth to power! :clap3:

Don’t you have to go through very long therapy and process before they diagnose someone and give them transition medication?

From my knowledge its a long process and is not something a kid decides in 10min and you can go to the doctor for prescription.

I think there is an extreme level of misinformation out there about the process

That medication is not accesible or easy to get for anyone.

Yes, don’t be dense.
