The account was some British lady named "Susan" but it looked like an alt account since it had only 3 posts that were all just anti-trans and someone theorized it was possibly an 2nd account for Roisin since apparently her alter ego is named Sue (?).

 

When that got mentioned on Popjustice, the account freaked out and privatized all of its content.

The only thing that makes me doubt this theory is that Roisin is famously never backtracking, right? Deleting/archiving posts on a burner account she already semi-acknowledged would kind of go against that.

With JK falling down the anti-trans rabbit hole, it kinda makes sense why she wouldn’t care about the impact to her reputation because Harry Potter is so widely beloved. But isn’t Roisin’s only fanbase very online LGBT underground music fans?  Fascinating that publicly sharing her views mattered more to her than losing goodwill from the only people who liked her.

And until 4 days ago, so had Roisin. It's a sobering reminder that there are no perfect allies and even those who have been welcomed into our community are vulnerable to misinformation. 

 

I don't believe the burner account thing at all (it's also possible the posts got removed because people were reporting them) and she has never really had an "alter ego" she just does tiktoks with face filters on playing characters sometimes, there are like 5 different ones. The PopJustice thread got way out of hand and had to be closed, I don't think it's the place to go for an accurate overview of this topic. 

 

The pinned comment and even the vague idea of "transing our gay youth" is completely stupid and reprehensible though. I am so shocked/disappointed by her. The silence was concerning but I had hoped it was because she was seeking advice from her friends within the community, now it doesn't seem like she's interested in learning at all. That ******* sucks.

Huh? The thread got closed not cause it "got out of hand" nor cause it "had to be" but because her pinning the comment made it clear she was defending her transphobia and basically sealed the deal for most.

 

Most former fans were calling for it to be closed to no longer give her promo, like the forum does often with problematic pop stars, ie: you can't make threads for Melanie Martinez, or for Camila on there because topics about her have been banned for her racism. The mods literally renamed the title "ROISIN MURPHY - TRANSPHOBE".

 

The point about the account whose comment she pinned isn't if it is her burner account (though when checking, it does belong to someone with a British phone number), but that the comment from a random account that had 4 likes is what she decided to pin, ignoring the dozens of comments by fans, many with 100+ likes, asking her to please clarify that she doesn't hate trans people.

She obviously pinned the comment she agreed with, and it had so few likes because it's ******* stupid and by far the minority opinion. It's not like she pinned it right after it was posted either, it was days old. I'm not defending her, there is enough actual evidence of her spreading transphobic misinformation here without having to jump to conjecture. 

 

Also I can guarantee there's no shortage of transphobic old hags named Susan in the UK.

Sadly it's true. I can't see that in Jessie at all to be like this but I'm sure people would have said the same about roisin if roles were reversed. I'd be disgusted either way tbh
