I don't know what's happened recently but I cannot get enough of this track. Didn't hit me much at first but I also felt a bit underwhelmed by Don't Say Love and then played it to death for a hot minute.

 

I do feel like it was a missed opportunity going with My Love at first, it stands out a lot more than Don't Say Love in terms of uniqueness as the Afrobeat sound really starts to become more mainstream with Water and Calm Down. And the music video is such a slay, she's serving budget but let's see how long that lasts given the chart results.

Also didn’t she sing “Woman’s World?”, “I Told You So”…where’s her girl uplifting girl energy? Very very disappointing to read this. She sounds so desperate.

Few notes:

1) The hand mic is not needed, a head piece would me so much better!

 

2) The chorus needs more background vocals, I admire she wants to focus on the live singing but Leigh is a performer first and foremost and she’s focusing way too much on the live vocals when she could take advantage of pre-recorded vocals to help her execute the choreo.

The beginning sounded great, shame it wasn't live.

 

BUT I would prefer a Britney mic so she could dance to pre-record vocals because i'm not here for this basic watered down choreo and the odd live line and missing others.

Why lip sync the intro and not the chorus? We can forgive her miming the chorus because that’s the norm and it’s the part of the song with the biggest sound. Weird. 
 

That said, great effort by Leigh. I am assuming this performance and the Jingle Bell one were booked months in advance because it’s a bit pointless her performing this song now when it’s completely dead on the charts.

She was always the weakest of LM3 but had improved a lot in the last couple eras vocally. It seems like she regressed?

i’m of 2 minds here. firstly, she has very clear limitations as a singer that were very obvious to me from day one. she’s going to permanently have a thin voice that struggles with pitch. yet, in LM she definitely was able to overcome that and give some very fun growling belts. i do think she grew, but it should also be noted that LM relied on playback and generous studio mixing in a lot of their performances. perhaps it was deceptive, it helps that she always sang for less than 30 seconds at a time. it gave her a chance to catch her breath and less room for technical error. acoustically, she was more confident with the girls but her limitations would show once again. so if i had to guess- she did not grow much as a singer, they got better at presenting the group and coaching studio vocals that all the girls could recreate live.

yeah im a little shocked. this explains why she is the way with him. shes probably aware the way you get em is the way you lose em. i hope things work out but yikes. their really was no need to make all of that information public.

I purchased the book. I was shocked to read she had a bf when she was trying trying to get with her now husband, Andre. She also revealed how he had a gf who he lived with and they had a dog and that they were seeing each other for 6 months while he was still with his gf   She was quite open about telling Andre to just leave his gf.

 

I’m guessing her third single ‘Stealing Love’ is about this?

Her confidence is improving! Heavyyyy pre-recorded vocals in the first half but it is what it is.

 

She seems more confident when someone else is on stage with her.
