I mean look at these pics… his nose was pretty big lol. The outrage is a reach & the new internet echo chamber complaint of the month :toofunny3:

He should’ve actually done a nose job, the lack of dedication is not it. :giraffe:

Bradley's actual nose looks basically identical to Bernstein's so yeah this is very dumb

It actually isn’t. And regardless Bernstein had a convex profile while Bradley has a much stronger chin which makes his nose look smaller compared to Bernstein, so they compensated with a prosthetic nose. It looks pretty accurate to Bernstein here:

I don't think it's fair to say this is period point blank antisemitic because there's a very clear lack of intention behind it.

That being said, it is nonetheless antisemitic imagery even if it doesn't mean to be. Even if by accident, it leans into a negative stereotype that has been the fixture of anti-Jewish propaganda--especially on the part of the Nazis who repopularized this stereotype in the modern world--for centuries. It's not unfair to criticize it for that, especially when no, this prosthetic does not make him look like Leonard Bernstein.

Yes, Bernstein's nose was a little large. But it was not that massive nor was it that pointed. The prosthetic gives off the impression that they went out of their way to make it look as "Jewish' as possible. Not saying that was their intention, but that's exactly how it comes across. It's not reaching to point that out.

It looks fairly accurate to Bernstein from what has been revealed thus far:

This is clearly too much and uncomfortable to look at. Hope they listen to the Jewish people and change it!

Where I see the issue is that yes Bernstein had a larger nose for sure but his nose is not anywhere close to be as angular or pointy as Bradley's prosthetic is. Bradley's prosthetic does not look like a human's nose, it looks like a cartoon character. It looks like a caricature. Bernstein's does not.

There's also the question of....why was it really necessary to make Bradley Cooper's nose look ethnically Jewish? If he was going to play the role, then play the role, I don't think his nose needs to look that way in order for the audience to understand the character is Jewish. If they felt the need for the actor to appear ethnically Jewish then why not just cast an actor who is ethnically Jewish?

I'm not usually one to say "oh an actor shouldn't play such and such role for such and such reason" (except for things like race which...duh). I don't think there's an issue with straight people playing queer characters or people of one nationality playing another etc. But I do sort of feel that for something like this, when the subject is as sensitive and drenched in historical issues, it may be better to not have someone who's not ethnically Jewish putting on makeup to portray someone who is.

So now y'all are going to cancel Bradley bc of the angle of his prosthetic nose? :rip: y'all are the problem the right wing is SOARING around the world, people have have enough of y'alls jobless asses. Then when there's real racism in the real world people don't bat an eye bc they are saturated with all of you trying to cancel somebody new EACH DAY.

"In one of his autobiographies the great writer Gore Vidal remembers his love affair with Broadway dancer Harold Lang. He writes:

"he was just extraordinary to have sex with, i've never seen anything like it before and i never seen anything like that again....It was the greatest ass in history... My dear friend Lenny Bernstein told me "his ass was the seventh or maybe the eight wonder of the world. What is Beethoven in comparison with Harold Lang ass?....and believe me Lenny was the true authority about male asses".

Seems like he knew how to use that big nose btw.

I’ve always found ‘jewish’ nose insanely, like INSANELY hot.

I just feel like there’s bigger problems in the world than a prosthetic nose:clown: I’m sure the movie as a whole isn’t intended to depict him in a negative light; when outrage like this occurs I feel like offended people seem to ignore the intent of the art in the first place.

I’m not into woke Twitter but I even looked at it and was like: “that’s not it”.

Doesn't look bad head-on but the profile is way too exaggerated

ummmm wth were they thinking... :biblio:

Spoiler

Why are people blaming Bradley when it was probably the costume departments decision? Surprised no one has mentioned that yet.

Yeah this is a bit... unnecessary (the prosthetic nose)... actually very unnecessary.

I don't get it... His nose was already similar to the guy he's portraying so this feel so unnecessary :skull:
