The problem with Lorde is that her life is not very interesting. It was in 2013. But now it is not.

So she has nothing to write about and no incentive to pour her soul into songwriting. She has to resort to drugs (Solar Power) or partying (Melodrama) to make her life interesting enough to write about.

she can always go back to writing about past events or fictional characters since she's an amazing songwriter

What a stupid take :rip:  Melodrama isn't only about partying :dies:

This is such a weird and strange take. :rip:

Some of us also remember a song called "Good Fights". She performed it nine times in 2013 and we never got to hear a fully produced version.

I'm not sure why some people are surprised by this.

Pure Heroine era, we had "Good Fights"

Melodrama tour, we had "Precious Metals"

Pre-L4 we get two new untitled tracks a.k.a "Silver Moon" and "Invisible Ink"

Perhaps they were some old Jack Antonoff co-writes she was cleansing from her laptop.

Both songs sound terrible, so she's actually doing us a favour.

I thought she was working with Dev Hynes? Why does it sound like Jack Antonoff? :biblio:

it literally sounds exactly like Dev Hynes.

Some people are so used to listening to Jack's production techniques that they don't know anything else.

Jack Antonoff became known for using a lot of gated reverb drums in the pop albums he worked on the mid/late 2010s, so much so that some people might have thought it was his signature sound. But he didn't invent that idea. That was Peter Gabriel and his producers in the 1980s.

The sound was bought back to pop fans in the 2010s on albums like Days Are Gone by HAIM in 2013, produced by Ariel Rechtshaid and others.

The gated reverb sound can also be heard on "Everything Is Embarrassing" from August 2012, producers Ariel Rechtshaid and Dev Hynes.

If you search for it, there's also a Dev Hynes demo for "Everything Is Embarrassing".

Perhaps it was Jack who produced these tracks, but Jack Antonoff production sounds like a lot of people, one day like Bruce Springsteen, another day like Dev Hynes.

Yeah, but the main theme and concept of the album was a house party.
