She was on a smaller label and was getting panned. I think signing to a legit label and letting her music build a cult following was actually really smart. :deadbanana4:

When you put it like that... it kind of does make sense for her. Especially since she wasn't taken seriously at the beginning. She at least has some form of a backing now, especially since we know the material and quality is there.

Looking forward to the EP. Hopefully leads to a full-length LP.

yeah, totally. when you have a bunch of people sharing your leaks & begging for it to be released, you have a smasha on your hands. and they probably didn’t know this was going to happen, and would’ve probably not been received the way it was when they dropped it right after Obsessed.

i’d say it’s never too late when your target audience is waiting for it anyway.

She was signed to Warner Music Group and is still signed to them. Where are you getting this wrong info from?

“I got to learn a lot about myself as an artist really fast because I was there so much, really exercising every part of my brain to write and learn melodies and things like that,” Rae says.

Hindlin agreed to put her music out via his own independent label, Sandlot Records, and teamed up with Adam Mersel.

Sandlot Records was at the time a vanity/2nd party label that sat under Atlantic Records. When Jkash left Atlantic, his signings were dropped or moved over to a Warner Music Group company.

They were trying to launch her music career in the mould of Ellie Goulding (lol), who pioneered the concept of a major label signing that would sit within an indie label to develop her talent, sound and following for the first few years.

Addison Rae was always a major label signing, just her route to market was going to be through an “independent” label.

Finally some real music :clap3:

it's still not the same as being on Warner since day 1 as you're making it out to be. it was clear from Obsessed that it wasn't a major label release.

OT: i wonder how they will handle this EP release.

Never. Carly has a perfect deal with 100% freedom, Warner can't provide that.
