Is It Over Now? & Say Don’t Go are easily top 10 in Taylor’s discography! Just wow. The production, the lyrics :jonny6: INSANE!!!!
And yeah, Jack’s not going anywhere. He needs to be the main producer on TS11. I need this dream pop sound for that record

Oh really? Why do I recall Run being pushed on streaming? Maybe it was playlisted a bit but not on TTH specifically.

It was definitely pushed!

Girl Midnights is already filled with dream-pop sounds. ENOUGH!!! :dies:

I’m not sure people realize that most of these were recorded around the same time as Midnights

sweeter than fiction tv is fine (I only listened to the original twice)

She didn't used to sing the (verse) melodies so low or breathy (and melodies weren't quite as monotonous) until later in her discog. I don't buy into the stupid "the vault tracks are newly written" theory se people throw out. But these ones are definitely unlike the rest of 1989. Like she just wasn't writing for her voice like that back then.

Idk, does anyone know what I mean

I like the vault tracks but none of them are clear highlights like I Can See You or Nothing New imo!

My thoughts exactly, they’re ok but I was expecting bangers the way she said she couldn’t believe she left them out of original.

I’m still unsure about this album and I will have to play it in full a few more times to form a concrete opinion about it but I’m not head over heels.

So far IMO

Red TV > Speak Now TV > Fearless TV > 1989 TV

You guys are being over dramatic about Style TV. There's only like a 5% difference from the OG

Run was on TTH. I think I remember ICSY being on it too. Could be wrong about that one.

I don’t think either of them were. ATW10 was put on TTH but it took a week for that to happen

Run was on TTH tho

Wildest Dreams TV was recorded in 2021 so I assume most of the album was also recorded then as well.

This is NOT my fav song ranking (Stylesus (Stolen Version) is literally my #1 19katy9 song), but just solely based on how good she rerecorded the tracks
Not surprising that the Ryan/Jack songs were rerecorded way better than the Max tracks
This Love is the biggest improvement easily overall tho

The Vault tracks were never finished products in their era. She has rewritten them. Even for the features. How would she make Nothing New fit Phoebe Bridgers’ voice when Phoebe wasn’t even a thing back then. I don’t think Taylor would waste Max Martin’s hours with half baked demos. They had leftovers that became the original deluxe tracks. Maybe **** and others were just Taylor and her guitar or lyrics written down from around that time and she reworked them with the Midnights sonic headspace

Imogen posted about working on Clean in October 2022 so I doubt she did everything else in 2021

Forever Winter is an almost perfect copy of a demo. fearless vault are copies of debut era songs that leaked long ago.  Diane Warren has talked about  finishing a song with Taylor for years. It makes perfect sense that she would have demos from songs she worked on with Jack.

Cutting songs from albums is very normal. Also the target deluxe was released at the same time as the og album and was never an afterthought as target was where she sold the most albums. New Romantics and Wonderland weren't leftovers but songs earmarked for target .

Because jack is a better producer than chris rowe.

Also the sounds Taylor is working in the vault songs were actually really trendy in 2013. That was peak Chromatics and Chillwave era. The whole 1989 is as much as a love letter for the 80s as for the tumblr era. Midnights is actually the album that arches back to the era with some hip hop influenced production in some songs. Reminder that Taylor was out and around Brooklyn for 1989 and most of these bands were big there

This is excellent. Style is a miss which is a shame considering it’s my fave.

Out of the Woods - somehow BETTER?
Shake it Off - I LIKE IT AGAIN NOW

Clean - v different, not in a bad way.

Vault tracks - excellent. Not loving Sl*t but had she not used a ! I would’ve managed my expectations better.

I don't think 1989 had many solid outtakes honestly...with only 5 vault tracks and one of them being unfinished (Now That We Don't Talk missing a final chorus), it all makes sense.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong (and inform me on the matter:coffee:), but doesn't Scott already know about the existence of these demos? As the label was paying for studio time with producers, and Taylor couldn't legally hide anything from them, regardless of what was shelved or not? Or could Taylor just not submit to the label what she didn't deem as worth it? Cuz if it's the first option then he wouldve already run to the media and burn her at the stake trying to ruin her-owning my old work purpose.
